**About the Company**
Our Client is a global leader in the field of testing and measurement instruments.
**Responsibilities**:
We’re looking for a technically competent **R&D Director** to provide strong leadership, technical oversight and strategic guidance to a team of hardware and software experts, developing high-technology test and measurement instruments.
- Lead research & development in embedded systems, FPGA development and radio frequency hardware;
- Analyse and understand product specifications from Product stakeholders and international standards, to ensure that they meet specified requirements;
- Facilitate technical discussions, including evaluating trade-offs and conducting cost-benefit analyses;
- Challenge designs to ensure that they are technically sound, robust and maintainable;
- Manage and consider product lifecycle including supply chain issues and obsolescence, to build in resilience;
- Assume responsibility for overall product and project, including timelines, budget and costs;
- Establish efficient and well-documented processes and controls to ensure development activities and design decisions are effective and intellectual property generated is maximised;
- Foster a positive team dynamic across different disciplines, to encourage full participation and cultivate the development of the best ideas in a multicultural team;
- Guide and mentor team members to encourage a culture of continuous innovation and improvement;
- Ensure that activities are aligned with company’s values and guidelines.
**Requirements**:
- Post-graduate or tertiary education in Electrical and Electronics Engineering;
- Proven track record in managing R&D in a relevant industry;
- Strong understanding of radio frequency hardware and its related technology;
- Comprehensive technical knowledge in the area of analogue and digital electronics, and embedded software development;
- A strategic mindset in technical product development, with the ability to develop a product roadmap to meet future trends;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with strong stakeholder management skills and vision for leading technical teams;
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong process-orientation and respect for documentation;
- Ability to resolve technical issues on a high-level across disciplines;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Hands-on approach and ability to work well in a small team.
