Job Description Summary: Your way to impact At PayPal, the Transaction Processing and Data Services (TPDS) team powers the backbone of our global payments platform, processing billions of transactions through our mission-critical OLTP database infrastructure. As a Senior Staff Database Engineer, you will be responsible for driving innovation and reliability in this infrastructure. You'll work with advanced database technologies at a global scale, collaborating with top-tier engineers to implement intelligent, automated solutions that proactively identify and resolve complex system challenges. **Job Description**:
**In your day-to-day role, your responsibilities include**:

- Lead complex database platform initiatives, developing AI-native solutions to optimize operational workflows and enhance system reliability.
- Architect cloud-native data platform strategies with multi-cloud capabilities
- Drive infrastructure-as-code initiatives with advanced automation strategies
- Define encryption strategy, access controls, and secure data handling practices
- Implement robust monitoring and observability solutions
- Proactively identify and resolve potential system bottlenecks
- Conduct comprehensive performance tuning and optimization
- Lead critical incident management and resolution processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Mentor junior engineers and drive technical innovation

- 15+ years of advanced database technologies experience
- Proven track record in complex, large-scale data platform transformations
