The incumbent shall be assigned as the Lead Naval Architect of Projects.

**Role Purpose**

To independently define concepts and critical deliverables, plan, manage, control, approve and deliver engineering deliverables required for the assigned project effectively and efficiently according to specified technical requirements, timelines and budget, manage project resources and independently deal with and resolve all issues of the project, and provide guidance to the assigned team. The incumbent shall be assigned as the Lead Naval Architect of Projects.

**Key Accountabilities**

**Understanding Technical Requirements**:Understands the specific specifications and requirements of the assigned project (may include Bidding, Construction, Commissioning and Offshore assignment) and Industry Standard, Classification Society and Regulatory requirements.

**Team Management Performing Analyses**:Plans and directs the running of Naval Architect /software such as HydroD and HECSALV, prepares design calculation, performs simulation studies such as model test, and reviews and approves the spreadsheet, reports prepared by Engineers and reviewed by Senior Engineers. Where necessary, directs/prepares/conducts simulation studies.

**Team Management - Preparation of Deliverables**:Directs Engineers and Senior Engineers in the team to develop engineering specifications and general arrangement(drawings, data sheets, etc.) specific to the assigned project, reviews them and validates with the Project Manager and client before incorporating them in the RFQs.

**Technical Bid Evaluation**:Independently evaluates all the bids received for Naval Architect packages from various suppliers, performs a technical bid evaluation process, involves in cost estimation, ensures selected vendors meet technical/engineering and delivery requirements as stipulated in the project specifications and gives assessment to the Buyer who will follow up in the tender evaluation, price negotiation and award process.

**Quality Control**:Reviews/checks draft drawings and documents from team members and ensures the timely provision of accurate documents and specifications to the successful vendors to enable the latter to execute their work and deliverables.

**Problem Solving**:Independently manages and develops solutions to technical/engineering and related problems by analyzing the issues/data, interpreting the analysis and evaluating various options/measures using experience, precedents and professional references. (For some: Anticipates potential problems and takes preventive actions to Naval Architect).

**Vendor / Supplier Management**:Visits suppliers, checks and tests Naval Architect items to ensure that they function as per specifications. Where necessary, works with the suppliers/contractors concerned to rectify the technical issues making sure that they comply with the specifications and are ready on time.

**Resourcement Management**:Participates in meetings, reviews progress and addresses interface/implementation/execution issue, escalates where necessary to ensure that the project proceeds timely and smoothly. Plans and organizes resources and schedule to balance and optimize projects management.

**Construction / Commissioning Support**:Provides technical/engineering support and advice to Construction/Commissioning work at site, trouble shoots and follows up to rectify the gaps or problems. Where necessary, provides off-site support and advice.

**Lessons Learned and Knowledge Sharing**:Shares the knowledge and experience with team members and guides/supervises junior Engineers and appraises their performance. Identifies and records lessons learnt during the course of execution of project for further processing through MIMS.

**HSSEQ**:Complies with the MODEC HSSEQ Code of Conduct as described in the HSSEQ Policies, the 14 HSEQ Standards, and the HSEQ Procedures to protect people and the environment at all times. Has a duty of care to ensure that all personnel work in a manner that is not harmful to their own health and safety and the health and safety of others.

**Compliance**:Complies with MODEC Group’s Code of Business Conduct & Ethics and Policies to ensure business activities and decisions conform to the laws and regulations and demonstrates high standard of ethical behavior.
