**The Quality Control Engineer ensures that all shipbuilding, repair, and fabrication activities comply with international standards, classification society rules, and client specifications. The role involves conducting inspections, overseeing testing procedures, and maintaining quality documentation to guarantee structural integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance.**

**1. Inspection & Testing**:

- Perform in-process and final inspections at various stages of ship construction (steel cutting, welding, assembly, painting, outfitting).
- Conduct **Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)**such as: Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Radiographic Testing (RT) Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Verify dimensional accuracy, alignment, and tolerances using precision tools (calipers, micrometers, laser alignment).

**2. Compliance & Standards Enforcement**:

- Ensure compliance with **classification society rules**(ABS, DNV, LR, BV, etc.), **international regulations**(SOLAS, IMO, MARPOL), and **client requirements**.
- Review and approve **Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR),**and **material certifications**.
- Monitor **welding quality**(visual inspection, hardness testing, bend tests).

**3. Documentation & Reporting**:

- Maintain detailed **inspection records, test reports, and quality logs**.
- Issue **Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)**and track corrective actions.
- Prepare **final quality dossiers**for vessel delivery.

**4. Process Improvement & Corrective Actions**:

- Identify defects, root causes, and implement **Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)**.
- Work with production teams to improve welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.

**5. Supplier & Subcontractor Quality Assurance**:

- Conduct **supplier audits**to ensure material and component quality.
- Verify incoming materials (steel plates, pipes, coatings) meet specifications.

**6. Safety & Regulatory Compliance**:

- Ensure all activities follow **HSE (Health, Safety, Environment)**policies.
- Participate in **risk assessments**and safety audits.

**7.**Experience**:

- **3+ years in shipbuilding, offshore construction, or heavy steel fabrication.**:

- Familiarity with **shipyard processes**(block assembly, outfitting, commissioning).

**8.**Technical Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of **welding standards (AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ISO 3834).**:

- Proficiency in reading **engineering drawings, P&IDs, and structural plans.**:

- Experience with **QC software**(e.g., SAP QM, Navisworks).

**9.**Soft Skills**:

- **Analytical mindset**with strong problem-solving abilities.
- **Excellent communication**for coordinating with production teams, clients, and class surveyors.
- **Attention to detail**to detect defects and ensure compliance.
