GRADES 10 to 12

Birmingham Academy is a dynamic, thriving, diverse Private Education Institution in Singapore which has been in operations for over 2 decades. We are seeking a Visual Arts teacher for our Grades 10 to 12 students enrolled in our planned Canadian Curriculum High School programme.

**Responsibilities**

This position includes (but is not limited to) the following duties:

- Integrate professional and/or industry experience into curriculum.
- Encourage student critical thinking, self-advocacy, self-assessment, and leadership.
- Provide consistent differentiation and scaffolding strategies and techniques.
- Model excellent interpersonal skills, especially by collaborating with school community.
- Demonstrating skilled classroom management and high levels of student engagement.
- Align themself with school vision and culture to promote anti-racism, social justice and equity in education.

**Knowledge and Skills**

Demonstrated competencies in the following areas are a must:

- Expertly teach the Ontario Visual Arts curriculum in accordance with Overseas partner School expectations.
- Use a variety of teaching methodologies tailored to individual student's learning styles and needs.
- Evaluate student progress using appropriate and diverse assessment techniques, providing timely, constructive feedback to students, and reporting results regularly to administrators and parents.
- Create a rich, experiential learning environment in the classroom and the school community.
- Collaborate with administration and colleagues to enhance learning and support student success.
- Engage in professional growth by providing meaningful extracurricular activities and special projects.

Job Requirements

University Degree in the relevant area of specialty.

College of Teachers certification is an asset.

Subject matter expertise in the course curriculum and a passion for creating experiential learning opportunities.

At least 1 year experience in teaching High School students in accordance with Ontario Canada, Ministry of Education guidelines is desirable.

Demonstrate the ability to create an inclusive, positive learning environment and utilize differentiated teaching strategies in the classroom.

Possess an empathetic approach and commitment to student success.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced school environment.
