Associate Project Manager

**Department Overview**

The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten. We are a cross functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across five countries: Japan, Singapore, India, China, and UK.

We develop and maintain the comprehensive advertisement platform that allows both internal stakeholders (Rakuten Ichiba merchants) and external advertisers (huge national and international clients) to freely manage their promotional mix and marketing campaigns. Working with us you will be able to learn everything about Rakuten Group's wide range of services and huge data asset.

**What are we looking for?**

The Project Manager is often known as the “face” of the project. He/she is the single point of contact who manages all works streams and tasks performed by other people in a project.

PJM is also accountable for the result of their collective work of the project team. It might sound easier than it is. So, what skills are needed by a PJM?

PJM is a leader; we are looking for individuals who enjoy problem solving and have leadership capabilities.

PJM spends a lot of their time communicating with different stakeholders. We are looking for individuals with good communication skills.

Critical thinking skills are very important for the image of the project.

PJM must be able to handle the pressure and stress that can emerge during the execution of a project.

A good PJM works well under pressure to keep the project on the path to success. Irrespective of the challenges, a PJM is a business professional
- they need to act as an example, and show high morale, ethics, and credibility.

**Position Details**

**Business Process Execution**
- Work closely with the Product Managers, Business Unit, and other stakeholders, understand their need and business direction
- Work with the project team to execute the project successfully.

**Project and Service Execution**
- Ensure that the project goal is well-aligned and manages the project team to accomplish it with the required level of quality.
- Work closely with the cross-border tech teams to achieve project outcomes.
- Ensure smooth communication and comprehension among all various stakeholders both in development projects and in service maintenance.

**Collaboration**
- Working closely with the Senior Product Manager, Tech Lead, Architect, and other project members
- Collaborate with different teams like Dev, QA and DevOps team.
- Collaborate with cross-culture, cross-border development team during the project execution.

**Mandatory Qualifications**:
Basic knowledge on Computer Science and software development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, and ability to build a strong working relationship between technical and non-technical people
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members to establish positive working relationships and achieve goals together
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once, as required, and prioritize appropriately
- Team player and easy-going person
- Proactive, self-starter and self-motivated
- Perform under immense pressure
- Strong get-things-done mind with a sense of ownership

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Strong skills to write spec documents, project reports.
- Previous experience in working on projects.
- Work experience with a remote team
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams
- Experience of leading a team be an activity that you like. Eg: CCA Clubs, Tech Clubs, Toastmaster program

Please be informed that this is a 1-year contract position. (Subject to conversion)
