**Job Summary**
The Collateral Risk Analyst is a key member of the in-business credit risk function responsible for the collateral that underpins Citigroup’s lending and trading activities in the APAC region. Working closely with businesses, credit risk managers, collateral risk experts and other teams in ICM, the Collateral Risk Analyst leads the analysis involving collateral and supporting Bank’s analytics in APAC covering all collateral-related areas.
This is a new role in a rapidly growing area of the firm and provides an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, innovative, and results-oriented individual to take the next step on their career path and to play a key role in the development of a new department within the firm.
**The Team**:
In line with its focus on risk and controls, Citi has created a new first line risk function, Institutional Credit Management (ICM). ICM’s principal focus is credit risk: it has been established with the objective of providing integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, and the management of associated risks for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise.
Within ICM, the Collateral Risk Management group focuses on the monitoring and management of risks relating to collateral posted and received in connection with Citi’s trading and banking book activities. The Collateral Risk Management group consists of the global team and a regional team in APAC of which this role forms a key part.
**The Mission**:
The Collateral Risk Analyst helps in assessing the Bank’s portfolios of collaterals and minimizing potential losses by continuously monitoring and mitigating the risks associated with acceptance of the collateral. The role will require you to be detail-oriented, analytical, and a strong communicator in order to be effective.
The Collateral Risk Analyst will take the lead on specific collateral analytics projects and provide specialist support on other projects, under the direction of the APAC Head of Collateral Risk Management.
The Collateral Risk Analyst will work closely with the regional stakeholders to define and lead analytics initiatives in the region, in partnership with the Collateral Head of Analytics in the global team.
Key benefits include the development of an unusually broad perspective on the Bank’s activities (across both banking book and trading book), the acquisition of specialized knowledge of regulatory developments and the Bank’s financing practices, exposure to senior leadership and a rewarding, creative, and dynamic working environment.
**The Role**:
The Collateral Risk Analyst will be expected to lead or support on a range of collateral analysis for APAC region with responsibilities including:
- Collateral assessment: Responsible for assessing the value and quality of collateral provided by the firm’s client on a portfolio as well as on an individual basis. This will potentially involve analyzing the credit quality of the client, appraisal of collateral and other relevant information to determine the collateral’s fair market value.
- Monitoring collateral: Monitor the collateral provided by clients to ensure that it remains adequate to mitigate the risk of facilities extended by the Bank. This may involve periodic inspections, valuations, and appraisals.
- Risk management: Work closely with the underwriting (1LOD) and credit risk (2LOD) teams to identify potential risk associated with the collateral provided by our clients (e.g., wrong way risk, liquidity, etc.). This may involve conducting risk assessments and developing strategies to mitigate any potential risks.
- Documentation: Responsible for ensuring that all collateral related documents are accurate and up-to-date. This may include loan agreements, security agreements, and other legal documents.
- Reporting: Responsible for preparing regular reports on the status of collateral and loan security. This may involve providing regular updates to management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the regional team in ICM, including underwriters, transaction management, as well as credit risk officers, to ensure that collateral requirements are being met and that facilities are being secured effectively.
- Compliance: Ensure that all collateral-related activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Problem solving: You will proactively identify issues related to collateral and facility securities, and work collaboratively to develop solutions.
- Stakeholder management: Provide excellent stakeholder management to the business and address any concerns they may have about collateral requirements and loan security.
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years relevant experience in Financial Services (or strategy consulting)
- Track record in business analytics and collateral management
- Highly analytical & creative mindset
- Strong and impact
