**Description and Requirements**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Perform **database administration tasks**, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and security management.
- Monitor and **optimize database performance**, including query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource allocation.
- Implement **backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) solutions** to ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with **development teams** to design and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and queries.
- Ensure **data security** and compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Automate repetitive database tasks using **scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, Shell scripting, etc.)**.
- Troubleshoot and resolve **database-related issues**, including outages, slow queries, and connectivity problems.
- Conduct **capacity planning** and database scaling strategies to accommodate business growth.
- Implement and maintain **high availability solutions** such as **clustering, mirroring, replication, and Always On Availability Groups**.
- Keep up to date with **emerging database technologies** and recommend improvements.
- Document database architectures, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

**Required Skills & Qualifications**:

- ** Bachelor’s degree** in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- ** 8+ years** of experience in database administration with expertise in **Microsoft SQL Server** and **IBM DB2**.
- Strong knowledge of **SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies**.
- Experience with **high availability and disaster recovery solutions** (Always On, clustering, log shipping, mirroring, etc.).
- Proficiency in **T-SQL, PowerShell, and shell scripting** for automation.
- Hands-on experience with **database security best practices** (encryption, access control, auditing, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills for database-related issues in production environments.
- Experience with **ETL processes, SSIS, and data migration** between platforms.
- Familiarity with **cloud-based database solutions** (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, IBM Cloud) is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent **communication and collaboration skills** to work with cross-functional teams.
