Cell therapy development requires evaluation of efficacy in animal models with well characterized cell sources. Research engineers are key members of the CAMP team who will assist in this essential step of in vivo validation to determine potency of the manufactured cell therapies. The research engineer will work in a team and will receive direct mentorship from post-doctoral associates as well as faculty. The main responsibilities of this position include:

- Conducting daily cell culture activities related to manufacturing of the cell therapy product, e.g., culture media changing, harvesting/sub-culturing of cells, collecting and isolating primary cells of interest from hospitals, etc.
- Run basic diagnostic testing for cultured cells, e.g., flow cytometry, qPCR, differentiation, etc.
- Maintaining a database of information related to cultured cells.
- Management of small rodent animal colonies (Keeping records, checking on health status, etc)
- Assist or when possible, independently perform animal procedures to test potencies of cell therapies. This includes the preparation of animals, performing the procedure and follow-ups as necessary (drug administration, weighing animals, observations, etc., and the keeping of records).
- The collection of data following the in vivo experiment, which includes physical observations, imaging (as needed), collection of tissue specimens at different time points with subsequent processing for analysis. Training will be provided for different analyses.
- Assist or, when appropriate, take charge of the necessary biosafety and ethics record keeping and dissemination.
- Steward all cell culture related equipment and, where appropriate, assist the CAMP Program Manager in training and general CAMP laboratory management activities.

**Job Requirements**:

- Bachelor of Science/Bioengineering degree or Diploma
- Research experience with culturing of mesenchymal or immune cells
- Experience with animal work is highly desirable. Must be comfortable with handling primary human cells and small rodents (mice and rats).
- Good organizational skills and time management
- Experience with basic molecular biology assays and tools for measurement of cellular properties
- Able to work well and communicate ideas effectively in a multidisciplinary team of researchers with different training backgrounds
