Automation and Platform Excellence - Platform Engineering (APEX) is a huge family of over 250 engineers and it provides platform support to the engineering teams across Grab and its respective JV’s.

Come join the team that literally serves Grab - Grab’s Sentry team ( **Grab Service Orchestration Platform) **. We front hundreds of APIs, our gateway systems process billions of network messages for Grab's consumers every day, and we are building Grab’s next generation service orchestration layer. We work closely with the infrastructure, security, and product teams, and are seeking experienced coaches and technical leaders to join our platform team

**Get to know the Role**:
Your deliverables are internal-facing products and public-facing services that bring our unique on-demand services experience to millions of Grab consumers in South-East Asia every day. You are mentoring, coaching, and hiring talented engineers to sustain and grow your team’s impact. You continuously improve your team’s engineering process and prowess, and engage with peers across Grab to drive initiatives from inception to done.

You will
- work at Grab's headquarters in Singapore, closely integrated with product and infrastructure teams to help build secure solutions with the right protocol, technology and patterns.
- as line manager, support a team owning mission-critical services
- guide your team to professional success and coach them on their career path
- develop and deliver your team’s objectives, key results, and KPIs

**The Day-to-Day Activities**:

- Drive projects end-to-end and across teams, and manage stakeholder commitments and expectations
- Help your team to keep up with their responsibilities as system owners, developers, and architects
- Mentor and coach talented engineers to help them deliver quality solutions for AWS, Azure, and beyond
- Review engineering proposals, optimise processes, reduce toil, and adjust habits
- Promote best practices and deliver excellence in stability, security, compliance, and user experience

**The Must-Haves**:
You have a track record of managing engineering teams and are a habitual leader, creative problem solver, and experienced planner. You value transparency, think laterally, and know how to balance risks and priorities. You are able to account for mission-critical systems. On the technical side, you
- have demonstrated success in building and maintaining highly-available business-critical systems and services
- are familiar enough with C/C++, GoLang, and IT infrastructure (AWS/Azure) to guide debugging and troubleshooting issues for the in-house and 3rd-party open-source solutions we deploy
- have a very good understanding of networking and the internet (TCP/IP, HTTP/[123], DNS, etc.)
- Have significant industry experience with Kubernetes (clusters and services)
- have hands-on experience with AWS or Azure (ARM, CFN, or Terraform)
- know how to build, maintain, and monitor highly-available distributed systems with strict SLAs

**The Nice-to-Haves**:

- Experience as a product manager for a developer-facing solution
- Deep knowledge of IaaS providers and their limitations (AWS, Google, Microsoft), Terraform experience
- Hands-on experience with large scale Docker / Kubernetes deployments,
- Experience in a startup
