Senior MQ System Administrator responsible for delivery of Mainframe MQ Administration services on the Mainframe platform.

Responsibilities include:
Ability to understand the client’s overall Mainframe architecture and the role of MQ in this setup.

Working in Account Delivery, he/she would be responsible for the design and implementation of MQ on the Mainframe platform.

Should be capable of solving complex technical problems, communicating technical concepts to clients and peers with mixed levels of technical abilities, and making sound technical decisions independently.

Would be responsible to work closely with other Mainframe Infrastructure and Application Specialists to support the large client Mainframe environment.

Work with IBM/ISVs for technical support if necessary.

Consults with end users, leadership, vendors, and technicians to assess system and non-functional requirements.

Perform primary On-call support during extended daytime hours

Should be ready and available to work on various time zones depending on client needs.

Experience (preferred)

Sound hands on experience of between 10-15 years working with MQ in a z/OS environment including experience with REXX, COBOL, JCL, TSO/ISPF

Experience in managing MQ across multiple Systems/LPARs.

Working in Account Delivery, he/she would be responsible for:
Install, configure, and upgrade MQ software

Monitor MQsystem performance and troubleshoot issues

Perform system tuning to ensure MQ is running optimally

Provide technical troubleshooting and support for MQ including engagement of IBM and vendors for problem resolution and determination

Familiarity and support of 3rd party software e.g. Omegamon, CICS PA, Fault Analyzer, APA etc

Provide process automation support and maintain SOP documentation

Support backup/recovery and disaster/recovery planning and testing

Support periodic system configuration reviews and audit reviews

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Troubleshoot MQ problems using MQ command line, IBM's Tivoli for MQ, and other third-party tools such as CA SysView, AppDynamics

Work with internal Batch and Online (CICS) Application Developers to understand and determine MQ requirements

Ability to create, maintain, and use automation scripts for z/OS MQ monitoring, alerting, and problem determination and resolution

Knowledge on Mainframe z/OS is a must.

Working with Channels - resolving channel, checking channel status, restarting channel, client connection and server connection channel etc.

Experience on MQ reason codes, persistent and non-persistent messages, MQMD headers, creating circular and linear logging.

Good and effective written and oral communication

Exposure to and basic understanding of DB2 on Mainframe

Good understanding of ITIL modules like Incident, Asset, Problem and Change Management.

Certification (preferred)

Any IBM certification on MQ Administration
