**Overview**
This role is an amazing opportunity to work in our state of the art performance spaces as our Casual Theater Technician (lighting).
Singapore American School puts on a variety of Performing Arts events every year, including Dance, Music, Drama, and Musical Theater performances.
We host them in a variety of venues, including:
- Auditorium - an 840 seat, our Constellation-equipped proscenium theater
- Drama Theater - a 305 seat, Greek amphitheater styled theater
- Theater Studio - a 120 seat black box flexible performance space
- Elementary Theater - a 350 - 650 seat proscenium theater
The role will allow you to have a lot of artistic and creative control over the events you participate in, but also allows you to support and educate student technicians learning these skills and empowers you to hand over the reins to them.
**Responsibilities**
- Be present for all performances and rehearsals. Design, program and operate the lighting equipment.
- incorporate the students in your work and delegate tasks to competent students.
- Attend production meetings and contribute to them with your own ideas and suggestions for each show
- Support simple presentations / Assemblies with basic lighting and AV requirements alone (training provided)
- Keep the Control rooms and stores in a clean and orderly condition
- Lead and supervise the load in / load out of lighting equipment and cabling in a safe and responsible manner.
- Understand and be willing to learn how to support other departments when needed
- Responsible for troubleshooting, fault finding, repairs and maintenance of all departmental equipment
- Clearly communicate your projects and the support needed in regular production meetings. Requesting Casual support / external contractors as needed.
- Reset lighting to standard focus after events
- Participate in the procurement and maintenance of our inventories
- Handover your responsibilities during leave to other members of the team to ensure a seamless transition during your absence, accept temporary assignments when others are on leave
- Model good industry practices to our students and colleagues
- Perform other duties or appropriate requests as assigned by the Theater Coordinator.
**Contract and hours of work**
- Casual Flex hours, min 4 hour call. This role will be paid at $12.50 per hour.
- Entitled to breaks, OT and rest based on Government regulations.
- Shifts offered are completely dependent on the needs of the school and applicant will be informed of their shifts in good time to respect a good work - life balance.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

**Essential Skills**:
- Knowledge of ETC networking and control systems. Can program using GIO /ION
- Knowledge and understanding of Stage Lighting power / signal pathways and electrical and electronic systems
- Understanding of safe rigging practices
- Have a high understanding and respect of Work Safety and Health policies and ensure they are being followed at all times and work with the theater team to resolve them.
**Desired Skills**:
- Single Vertical Platform Lifter License is desirable
- Work at Height qualification is desirable
- Experience working in the entertainment industry as a technician is desirable
- Experience in rigging lighting safely and rigging qualifications desirable
- Familiar with counterweight fly systems beneficial
