**Research Assistant in a Neurodegeneration Laboratory**

We are recruiting a research assistant to join the laboratory of Professor George Augustine and Assistant Professor Ch’ng Toh Hean from the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, a joint medical school between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This project is a collaboration with Associate Professor Albert Chen (Scintillon Institute, USA).

Our lab focuses on the study of cellular mechanisms of brain plasticity and neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease.

**Responsibilities**:

- Establish and carry out protocols for cell and molecular biology experiments
- Handle and perform experiments with mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease
- Help in general lab upkeep, purchasing and maintenance
- Maintain records of experiments, protocols and compliant safety standards
- Actively participate in lab events

Qualifications and skillsets:

- Applicants need to have experience working in a wet lab and be proficient in some basic laboratory techniques (i.e. cell cultures, histology, microscopy, brain etc). Experience working in a neuroscience lab and with animal models will be a strong advantage.
- Independent and self-motivated with an inquisitive mind.
- Have effective communication skills, be well-organized and be able to shoulder responsibilities.
- Be able to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively with a diverse and interdisciplinary team.
