Technical Superintendent

**Key Accountabilities
- **Support Eaglestar’s strategic goals**:

- Regularly updates and is up-to-date with the developments in the maritime industry with regards to trends and developments - with intent to identify and propose improvements and advanced technical solutions. The intent is to improve costing (economics) whilst increasing the operational integrity and efficiency of the vessels under charge.
- Live the cultural beliefs of the group and be the ambassador for the cultural beliefs for the vessels under his / her charge.
- **Technical support to vessels**:

- Be fully aware of the contractual commitments of his assigned vessels, to provide all support required for the efficient and economic operation of vessels.
- Be the first point of contact for vessels under his charge.
- Monitors the effective operation of equipment and machineries of his assigned vessels, identifies potential discrepancies from operational standards, proposes and implements solutions that will enhance the efficiency, performance and safety of the vessels.
- Actively participates in the maintenance and repairs plan for the assigned vessels and confirms the accurate execution, with an intent to confirm compliance to time schedule, quality of job and budget.
- Projects the maintenance, repair and spares requirements of the vessels assigned to help in development of the budget and maintenance schedule of the vessels.
- Monitors all his assigned vessels for the required technical and statutory survey certification for safe operations in accordance with Class, Flag, PSC and SIRE (external) and Eaglestar safety and operational standards (internal) at all times.
- Monitors the accurate, timely and qualitative execution of all maintenance and repairs activities - in cooperation with the ship board management team - to ensure optimum, efficient and safe operation of vessels under his charge. Reviews / inspects the quality and compliance of deliverables by sub-contractors and other vendors - including but not restricted to spare part quality / quantity.
- Oversees and monitors the overall technical operation of his assigned vessels, ensures the timely and cost effective completion of dry docking and other major relevant shipboard maintenance / repair activity - with an aim to improve the operational effectiveness / reliability of the vessels.

**Inspections and audits**:

- Executes the planned and ad-hoc vessel inspections (internal and external) for assigned vessels. The intent to identify areas of concern (technically and operationally) and propose and implement corrective actions / solutions to enhance the operational efficiency of the vessels.
- Liaise closely with the relevant team members in HSSE / Assurance / SQE / A&T departments in this regards.
- Liaise closely with HR Sea for MLC and other related inspections / audits.
- **Purchasing/ Procurement**:

- Monitors and assesses the requisitions raised by the vessels. Guides the purchaser /TA in obtaining quotes and evaluates same prior approving for placing orders. Ensures timely delivery of all spare parts to vessels.
- **Superintendence and leadership**:

- Reviews and develops improvements and proposes solutions of technical issues identified on his assigned vessels, in order to close out on any discrepancies noted.
- Provides the required reports on inspections, dry-docking, budget and other reports in compliance with set targets.
- Provide leadership for the Shipboard Team, representing the interests of Eaglestar’s stakeholders, customers and global commercial sectors and employees. Leads, coaches and motivates team members to develop high and distinctive performing leaders and executors to achieve operational excellence.
- Work closely with the cross functional superintendents to manage and monitor onboard crew performance. Identify development programs to enhance crew competencies, skills and knowledge to meet vessels’ operational challenges. Review and evaluate the key personnel performance through the annual performance planning and appraisal exercise.
- Attend regular team meetings to ensure a good team spirit, common understanding of team goals and increase cross functional learning. Regularly meet with the leadership to ensure alignment across the teams and discuss trends and improvement options.

**Requirements
Professional Qualifications
- Maritime Engineering degree or Certificate of Competency Class 1

Specialist Knowledge / Skills
- Sound knowledge of shipping industry and tanker business, with emphasis on vessel technical and engineering requirements
- Technically competent with proven expertise in developing and implementing processes with improved efficiency and effectiveness within the shipping environment
- Good trouble shooting abilities
- Shipping legal/regulatory expertise
- Build & motivate team towards business goals
- Knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting
- Operational and strategic planning

Experience
- At least 2 years of experience
