**Objective**

Asia Pacific is one of the strategic growth areas of RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST) and over the past couple of years, RWEST’s presence in Asia Pacific has rapidly expanded with subsidiaries in six countries being Singapore, China, Japan, India, Indonesia and Australia.

RWE Supply & Trading Australia Pty. Ltd. (‘RWEST AU’) is a recently set up subsidiary of RWEST and is based in Melbourne. RWEST AU will conduct commercial optimisation and hedging activities for RWE’s renewable assets in Australia as well as engage in proprietary trading in energy-related commodities and derivatives. RWEST AU has applied for an Australian Financial Services Licence (‘AFSL’). RWE currently has one renewables asset in Australia and it plans to significantly expand the capacity and the number of assets manifold by 2030.

The Finance Controller Australia will be responsible for all finance, accounting and tax-related topics for RWEST AU activities and will be one of the important members of the local senior management team helping and driving the successful implementation of RWEST’s business plans in Australia.

The individual will also act as an important link with RWEST global support functions, mainly for accounting, treasury, tax, back office and risk management.

To begin with, the role will be responsible for managing consultants and service providers in the areas of finance, tax and accounting but in future, additional resources may be recruited as the business requirement grows.

**Principal Accountablities & Activities**
- Overseeing maintenance of books of accounts, statutory audits and RWE Group financial reporting
- Advising the Board of Directors on liquidity, tax and accounting matters and the setup of other support functions for RWEST AU
- Managing relationships with local banks including setting up of working capital facilities and day-to-day banking operations
- Local treasury function including liquidity and cash flow planning, management and optimisation and setting up of cash pooling arrangements with RWE
- FX trading locally as and when required including for hedging needs
- Ensuring setup of effective processes and controls locally
- Ensuring local direct and indirect tax compliances are dealt with appropriately (help of external tax consultants will be available)
- To act as an enabler for the Company’s proposed commercial activities while simultaneously ensuring an appropriate control environment is maintained to ensure compliance with external as well as RWE internal regulations

**Competencies**
- Qualified accountant
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance function with good understanding of P&L and balance sheet drivers
- Expertise in SAP
- Experience in energy sector/commodity trading and/or in a regulated environment, such as working under an Australian Financial Services Licence, in relation to Australian carbon credit units and market traded or over-the-counter energy derivatives is preferred
- Good understanding of cash management, working capital management tools and FX markets is an advantage
- Experience of managing a team
- Exposure to/experience of regulatory environment in Australia
- Understanding of international tax topics
- Ability to work in a matrix reporting environment and comfortable to work with a fluid job description
- Ability to think laterally across different functional areas
- Innovative and solution-oriented approach
