**About the role**

We are now recruiting for a
**Specialist Logistics Operations** to join our commercial logistics team in Singapore

This role is part of the APAC logistics execution portfolio and collaborates with Sourcing & Strategy to spearhead development of logistics products and senior carrier relationships that will enable the execution of supply chain strategies, steering volume by managing our yield and carrier commitments in line with demand and costs to deliver optimal value to the business as well as to meet customers’ requirements.

Reporting to the Manager, APAC Logistics Operations, you will be responsible for:

- Responsible for the effective and efficient distribution of products by the various mode of transportations as well as warehousing and stock point operations
- Develop allocation plans based on short term sales plan, market strategy and demands placed by Sales & Marketing as well as negotiated carrier portfolio
- Produce analysis and recommendations for allocation of logistics capacity within the sales plan, optimising logistics portfolio and taking into consideration marketing and strategic guidelines for input in the Sales & Operational Planning process (S&OP)
- Follow up on execution against plan, working with Sales & Marketing functions and Logistics operations and initiate and track corrective actions as required
- Develop carrier evaluation methodology and guidelines, analyse their performance and implement actions to treat deviations such as unused allocations or failure to provide agreed capacity
- Facilitate alignment between the areas of Sales & Marketing, S&OP in relation to different aspects of allocation of logistics capacity to maximize results and recognition of the value creation to our customers
- Build and maintain strong effective supplier relationships collaborating with Sourcing & Strategy team on vendor selections, negotiation, contracts and performance management, providing bid support to relevant stakeholders on freight rates, consolidation opportunities, network constraints and carrier onboarding
- Act as key focal point for allocation related issues internally and with carriers externally
- Lead implementation of innovative logistics solutions and digitalisation projects ensuring both internal and external customers’ needs are met within costs, timeframes and working capital requirements and perform super-user role for connected planning and optimisation systems
- Support Logistics Operations in performance metrics analytics, identify and lead continuous business improvement opportunities including but not limited to the current planning process to achieve best-in-class performance
- Support in fostering a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture within Rio Tinto Logistics ensuring all activities comply with Rio Tinto standards and that product shipments are handled in a safe and secure manner

**What you will need for the role**

**To succeed in this role, you will have**:

- Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business or related field
- At least 5 years of related experience across supply chain, supply & demand planning in particular with trade or capacity management experience in container liner shipping industry \
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- High level analytical skills, process oriented, advanced numerical and logical reasoning to identify key value drivers for business, streamline process and eliminate non-value added tasks
- Strategic thinking, organizational agility, detailed and understanding of planning and forecasting processes
- Ability to drive adoption and efficient use of digital solutions to manage logistics flows; knowledge of digital transformation and supply chain and data analytics would be an advantage
- Advanced Excel, VBA, Power BI
