The ROV Pilot Technician has the primary responsibility for the piloting of the ROV, maintenance and repair of the ROV system, implementation and monitoring of technical procedures and reporting, work management and execution of ROV operational tasks. The primary ROV that he/she will be operating is a Hull Cleaning ROV (CROV).
The Technician performs activities related to installation, calibration, repair and maintenance of electrical circuits and components and/or mechanical equipment. In addition, he/she possesses the technical knowledge necessary for interpreting technical design drawings and specifications.
The Technician's duties require him/her to work outdoors, including onboard vessels. He/She must possess a level of physical fitness appropriate to the job requirements and is also required to work in shifts based on operations schedules. He/She should be adaptable to performing under different job demands to handle new projects that require meticulous attention to detail that emphasises quick response and turnaround.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the Launch and Recovery of the ROV System.
- Ensure that the ROV and all its systems are in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements
- Carrying out any work and ROV dives according to recognised operating procedures safely and efficiently.
- Ensure that all pre-dive checks and maintenance have been completed before any ROV dives.
- Ensure that all post-dive analysis and maintenance have been completed after any ROV dives.
- Upon completing the dive, immediately inform the ROV Supervisor of any faults or deficiencies encountered
during the diving period.
- Ensure that the dive log is completed in full for the dive undertaken.
- Ensure operations and data recording are carried out correctly.
- Writing of reports.
- Update and maintain documents and reports.
- Undertake maintenance, fault finding, and repair of the ROV System under the supervision of the ROV Supervisor.
- Assist in the conduct of system testing and commissioning.
- Carry out machinery service and overhauls.
- Carry out operational dry runs to identify and mitigate possible errors.
- Carry out troubleshooting to maintain equipment operating levels.
- Check accuracy of functional dynamic components according to work instructions.
- Document maintenance reports containing service and overhaul information.
- Identify job requirements based on client requirements.
- Monitor day-to-day machinery parameters in marine equipment and systems for alignment to operating ranges.
- Operate manufacturing machinery and tools to manufacture required components.
- Perform equipment installation following assembly workflow and design specifications.
- Select and calibrate tools for production.
- Set up components for surface protection and finishing operations according to job requirements.
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
- Following and enforcing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ordering new items as needed to keep the inventory fully stocked and supplied.
- Other tasks as assigned by Line Managers and Supervisors.
Job Requirements
- Ability to work in Singapore: ashore, onshore and offshore.
- Do not mind working over an extended period if required.
- Able to work at night and during weekends if required.
- Requires ability to travel and work overseas on an as-needed basis if required.
- Fluent in written and spoken English Language.
- Competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe and other relevant software programs.
- Use the correct protective clothing and equipment for work, in accordance with working procedures, ensuring that it is maintained safely and immediately report any known defects to Supervisors.
- Be an active part of the Risk Assessment and Emergency Response Team.
- Team player. Safety consciousness. Positive attitude towards people and health.
- Communicate efficiently with Line Managers and Supervisors.
- Actively participate in safety briefings and team meetings.
- Report all personal injuries, incidents, accidents and near misses to Supervisors.
- Perform incident reports if required.
- Assist with investigating incidents, accidents and near misses as needed.
- Update and maintain Safety Data Sheet on-site.
- Ensure Life Saving Appliances, Fire Fighting Equipment and Environmental Control Consumables are kept in stock and in serviceable condition.
- Responsible for equipment maintenance, testing, repairs and recertification according to regulatory requirements and company procedures.
