**Job Summary**:
The Assistant Chef supports the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and ensuring high-quality standards. The role is vital in maintaining smooth kitchen functions and compliance with **Singapore food hygiene and workplace safety requirements**.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and plating dishes.
- Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines set by the Head Chef.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness in compliance with **NEA/SFA food hygiene standards**.
- Assist in stock management, storage, and kitchen inventory checks.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults.
- Train and guide junior staff and kitchen assistants.
- Step in to support or cover for the Head Chef when required.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and grooming.
- Ensure safety and hygiene compliance under **Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) standards**.
**Requirements**:
- Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience.
- Minimum **2-3 years’ experience**in a professional kitchen.
- Knowledge of **Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients**.
- Valid **WSQ Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory in Singapore)**.
- Strong teamwork and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude, willing to learn and adapt.
