**Objective of the position**:
The Purchaser/Senior Purchaser will be responsible for performing full purchasing functions and responsibilities, ensuring the efficient and effective procurement of direct and indirect materials and services. The role involves managing the end-to-end Source to Contract process in compliance with corporate procurement guidelines.

**Responsibilities**:
Perform full purchasing functions & responsibilities:

- ** Source to Contract**:
Take charge of the end-to-end Source to Contract process for direct and indirect materials and services, including but not limited to the following tasks, to be performed in compliance to corporate procurement guidelines:

- sourcing and perform RFI/P/Q based on inputs from requestors.
- negotiation with vendors to attain right price, right delivery, right place.
- perform bid comparison and award recommendation with proper justification
- follow through using the appointed systems (SAP etc.) until approvals are attained
- Work with Freight forwarders to arrange for delivery to site or appointed destination as necessary.
- Coordinate claim requests for import shipment, if any
- Actively engage internal and external stakeholders, especially supply chain, production, quality management, vendors and freight forwarders to facilitate and optimize the purchase, e.g. minimum order quantity base on forecast, change of recipe, change in specifications, sample request and qualifications. Our vendor population encompass external parties and Inter-companies.
- Work closely with supply planner on stock requirements and forecast
- Work with Hub KL on PO creation/amendment deletion as necessary

Supplier Management Duties**:

- Own supplier relation management, including developing an understanding of major suppliers’ business development, positioning in the market, pricing benchmark and other supplier intelligence.
- Perform vendor qualification for new vendors, including liaising with finance to have new vendor created in SAP
- Ensure all existing vendors follow corporate vendor requirements, such as acceptance of Company Code of Conduct, submission of relevant Quality Certificates
- Work with vendors and internal stake holders on closure of NCM (nonconformance management) tickets and or any discrepancies over goods delivered. This encompass some degree of root cause analysis performed together with stakeholders and coming up with a reasonable and pragmatic resolution of the issue. Typical issues include but not limited to damaged goods, short shipment, out of specification materials
- Maintain, review and update approved vendor list. Provide input of vendor performance during the vendors review.
- Facilitate and support SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and GSQ Global Safety and Quality) of raw materials, ensuring completeness and relevance
- Organise, co-ordinate and follow through with vendors and Quality Management on raw/packaging materials evaluation/substitution
- Conduct supplier audit as necessary

Tracking and Reporting**
- Prepare and conduct Monthly Raw Material Pricing update to Local and Global procurement
- Prepare and conduct Raw material shortages report as necessary
- Provide market and supplier intelligence
- Track and report cost savings
- Any adhoc reporting request, pertaining to procurement related statistics

Continuous Improvement and other initiatives**
- Support and at times lead continuous improvement initiatives such as digitalization, process improvement, operational efficiency
- Support other initiatives as needed such as manufacturing line migration, product streamlining, new product introduction, etc.
- Participate in annual stock take exercise when delegated

**Requirements**:

- At least a Bachelor's degree.
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in direct procurement, preferably in the chemicals industry or manufacturing environment
- Familiar with planning, order fulfillment, import freight booking & clearance, warehousing and storage
- Knowledge and understanding of Chemicals industry is highly desired
- Excellent problem-solving skills and thinking out of the box mentality
- Multi tasking ability and adopt hands on approach to issues
- Open mindedness with ability to see the end-to-end process
- Good Stakeholder management and communication skills
- Analytical and commercially curious
- SAP Materials Management Purchasing module is a must, knowledge of Inventory planning is advantageous but not mandatory
