Singapore MAS Monetary Authority of Singapore Full time

[What the role is]
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator.

As central bank, MAS promotes sustained, non-inflationary economic growth through the conduct of monetary policy and close macroeconomic surveillance and analysis. It manages Singapore’s exchange rate, official foreign reserves, and liquidity in the banking sector.

As an integrated financial supervisor, MAS fosters a sound financial services sector through its prudential oversight of all financial institutions in Singapore - banks, insurers, capital market intermediaries, financial advisors, and stock exchanges. It is also responsible for well-functioning financial markets, sound conduct, and investor education.

MAS also works with the financial industry to promote Singapore as a dynamic international financial centre. It facilitates the development of infrastructure, adoption of technology, and upgrading of skills in the financial industry.

Join us now, if you have a genuine interest in making an impact to help shape Singapore’s economic and financial landscape.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of a team responsible for the supervision of investment intermediaries such as fund managers, REIT managers, trust companies and securities crowdfunding companies. You are expected to develop a good understanding of their operations, risk management practices and conduct-related risks and mitigating measures. You will also need to keep pace with new developments and business models in the investment management industry.

As part of the supervision team, you will carry out firm-specific risk reviews, as well as thematic or industry analyses to monitor the conduct of the intermediaries and identify emerging trends or risks that could pose a threat to MAS’ objective of promoting safe and sound intermediaries, and transparent and fair-dealing intermediaries. You will also participate in on-site inspections to assess the effectiveness of the intermediaries’ risk management systems and internal controls and the adequacy of their market conduct practices.

In the course of your work, you will have opportunities to review existing requirements, rules and regulations for the investment management industry to ensure they remain relevant. You will also have opportunities to engage with industry bodies, foreign regulators, other government agencies and supranational bodies to keep pace with industry and global regulatory developments.

[What we are looking for]
- Strong working knowledge of funds, asset management, REIT management, securities crowdfunding and/or trust businesses, preferably with between 3 and 8 years of prior working experience in the financial industry, particularly in risk management, or in a related field.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work at both the conceptual and operational levels.
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

All applicants will be notified on whether they are shortlisted or not within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.

As part of the shortlisting process for this role, you may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment.
