Research Engineer

Ember Research is embarking on an exciting phase with the creation of a research team in Singapore. This pioneer team has the critical mandate to research and develop temperature control technologies of novel materials, thermodynamics, sensors, connectivity, charging, manufacturing processes (the list goes on), to enable solutions for the next generation of Ember products.

This pioneer role offers the opportunity to shape the technology road map and to initiate/ execute/ own key research projects. We are looking for a software engineer who is experienced in developing embedded system and can think out of the box. He/she will be part of a smart and driven team that is on a mission to create innovative temperature control technology across various exciting categories.

**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and develop new features to support upcoming ember product line
- Develop firmware/ software for ARM based microcontrollers, Linux system, RTOS, sensors, memory devices and user interfaces.
- Support the rapid creation of prototype solutions to facilitate testing and demonstration of new product concepts.
- Liaise with leading manufactures and be abreast on current and upcoming technologies
- Work closely with internal and external software engineers.
- Document and communicate software requirements, design, and implementation
- Provide input for firmware development time and effort estimates.
- Work with QA team to develop test plan for engineering team downstream

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 3 yrs. proven years’ experience in embedded software development using programming language like C, Python.
- Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Python or Bash
- Experience in hardware bring up and working with EVK and SDKs
- Experience in designing and developing firmware code that interacts with iOS and Android apps
- Exposure to cloud infrastructures for early development
- Ability to understand hardware and product requirements and assess impact on software design
- Good understanding of commonly used security algorithms and protocols, ability to design software with security built in
- Ability to think and act independently as well as self-motivated
- Solid understanding of the full embedded development life cycle
- Good communications skills to convey and present information to internal and external stake holder
- Ability to break down problems, prioritize work and estimate development tasks
