Civil / Environmental Engineer

Mott MacDonald is looking for a talented and experienced
- **Senior/Principal Engineer** to join our growing Water team. This role can either be based in Singapore or Jakarta, with occasional short term travel in the region. Through this role, you will provide engineering expertise for a wide range of water/wastewater projects across South East Asia and beyond. This role will allow you to bring your expertise, grow your career to help drive sustainable and low carbon outcomes for our clients.
- Our projects range in scale and complexity and cover a broad range from water supply, flooding and hydrology and treatment process projects. You will have a solid technical base in civil / environmental engineering with track record of working independently to deliver projects, lead teams in at least one area of water supply, drainage (surface water / sewerage), flooding or treatment projects (mechanical or process background) - this may include acting as a checker or reviewer for projects.
- In this role, you will also be challenged to work in areas where you are not a technical expert and use your project / design management skills to lead teams and collaborate with other team members drawing upon our extensive technical expertise throughout our global network. Besides commercial acumen, flexibility and adaptability are key attributes to success.
- You will be involved in growing our business with both existing clients and developing new clients.
- You are confident is presenting and engaging with clients on both technical and commercial aspects to understand their needs. In addition, you are strong in writing proposal / tender preparation and have a good understanding of commercial contracts.
- You will have the opportunity to engage with our clients on a range of challenging projects that involve nature based solutions, low carbon designs, sustainability (zero waste / circular economy solutions), modular designs, 3D workflows and our digital solutions platform Moata, leveraging our global expertise and experience.**About this role**:

- Independent delivery of feasibility, concept and or detailed design of at least one of: water supply / wastewater sewer / drainage networks / flooding or water/wastewater treatment projects. This will include production of technical design reports, drawings, and specifications with a good understanding of the practical implementation of designs and solutions.
- Design and Project Management of water / wastewater / drainage / treatment projects, including leading design teams and acting as technical reviewer.
- Experience in technical advisory projects / assignments (preferred)
- this will be with ADB/World Bank or a similar agencies.
- Client & contractor engagement - presenting technical solutions and progress reporting, negotiation of variations and contract changes
- Assisting with authoring proposals (e.g. technical approach, proposed resources, project experience, schedule, fee, assumptions and exclusions,, etc.).
- Mentorship and development of junior Engineers.

**About You**:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Environmental
- 7+ years of water/wastewater/drainage system or treatment project design experience. Capability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Experience in hydraulic and drainage design software packages. (such as EPAnet / Bentley Watergems for Water Networks, HEC-RAS / TUFLOW for drainage)
- Experience using digital design tools (such Autodesk Civil 3D / Revit / Navisworks/ BIM360, Bentley OpenRoads)
- Experience in leading multi-discipline and remote teams.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with Clients and Contractors, presenting proposals and resolving technical issues.
- Demonstrated track record of taking on project management / design management roles in teams and on projects.
- Experience writing technical proposals and reports in English.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying new project opportunities and completing successful tenders (preferred).
- Prior engineering consultancy experience will be looked upon favourably.
- Chartered/Professional Engineer (preferred), or on track for professional qualifications.
- Strong desire to assist in developing water/wastewater business.
- Previous experience working in Singapore, Indonesia or other SE Asia country will be highly appreciated.
