Job Description & Requirements
- Consult with clients and advise them on what would look best for their personal style, then determine which services they require to get the look they want.
- Create formal hair styles for special events when customers want to be pampered before something important.
- Analyse the facial features, hair and unique needs of every client to determine and recommend beauty treatments for the hair and face.
- Encourage clients to take better care of their hair with beauty products from the salon that are higher quality and make colour and style last longer.
- Understand the basic chemistry of hair colour, and continue to learn more about current styles and new products on the market to offer the best services to our clients.
- Keep regular track of client treatments so there is accurate documentation of previous hairstyles, colours and special needs to offer your client additional benefits every time he or she comes in.
- Keep work stations clean and sanitize tools such as scissors and combs.
- Cut, trim and shape hair or hairpieces, based on customers' instructions, hair type and facial features, using clippers, scissors, trimmers and razors.
- Analyse patrons' hair and other physical features to determine and recommend beauty treatment or suggest hair styles.
- Bleach, dye, or tint hair, using applicator or brush.
- Update and maintain customer information records, such as beauty services provided.
- Shampoo, rinse, condition and dry hair and scalp or hairpieces with water, liquid soap, or other solutions.
- Demonstrate and sell hair care products and cosmetics.
- Develop new styles and techniques.
- Comb, brush, and spray hair or wigs to set style.
- Shape eyebrows and remove facial hair, using depilatory cream, tweezers, electrolysis or wax.
- Train or supervise other hairstylists, hairdressers and assistants.
- Attach wigs or hairpieces to model heads and dress wigs and hairpieces according to instructions, samples, sketches or photographs.
