Senior Analyst

CRU's Steel team is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Analyst to lead our iron ore research and become editor of the Iron Ore Market Outlook. Being a part of the Steelmaking Raw Materials team, you will play a key role in contributing valuable research to the early part of the steelmaking value chain.

Knowledge, data analysis and modelling
- Ownership over CRU’s global research in in iron ore and involvement in adjacent market research, including metallics, crude steel and metallurgical coal
- Maintain key datasets for areas of specialisation to a high standard, ensuring these are integrated with wider supply chain data.
- Understand, maintain and use existing models and processes to deliver insightful analytical content.
- Engage with the market to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the steel market.

Editor of services
- Managing production schedules for services to delivery to tight deadlines.
- Lead a team of analysts to deliver cohesive and comprehensive analysis of iron ore markets that is integrated with our wider view of the steel industry.
- Forge for solid customer relationships that help our services become embedded in customers workflows.
- Work with other CRU divisions and departments, for example to drive new business (Sales & Marketing), develop and share IP or work on single-client projects (Consulting) and develop and deliver webinars, seminars and conferences (Events).

Communication
- Create and communicate data driven analysis of market developments and issues that are compelling, logical and cohesive.
- Edit and be a key contributor to regular team reports.
- Write timely Insights covering developments in the steel market.
- Conduct and participate in customer meetings and speak at seminars and conferences.

Customer engagement and market awareness
- Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and market participants in area of specialisation and across the wider steel value chain.
- Respond to client and internal requests for data and opinions on area of market expertise.
- Support commercial teams to secure sales to new customers.
- Develop strong relationships with existing customers to ensure a high renewal rate for team products.

Training and collaboration
- Proactively gather and appropriately share relevant knowledge and intelligence across the Steel team and wider CRU business.
- Collaborate with team members and other CRU analysts and consultants for learning and sharing best practice.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure high renewal rates and strong growth in new sales.

**Essential Criteria**
- A number of years experience in mining and/or metals
- Masters degree in relevant fields, including economics, finance, engineering or geology
- Experience of managing and leading a team or people, preferably within an analysis environment
- Additional language capabilities is a benefit
- Exposure working across multi-locations with different cultures would be beneficial
- Strong background in maths and/or economics
- Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling
- Lead conversations with customers and other external stakeholders, delivering CRU analysis and insights in the context of an understanding of their business needs
- Form and shape CRU’s market views, working with the contribution of colleagues and own market analysis work
- Manage the production of written reports, presentations and webinar content
- Coach more junior team members
- Build and grow methodology and other intellectual property
- Represent CRU at industry events
- Support formation of marketing campaigns by identifying and shaping relevant market and industry themes and content
- Research, and analyse quantitative and qualitative information to formulate and evidence market insights
