Site Reliability Engineer

**Who we’re looking for**

We’re looking for a seasoned and technical cloud database Engineer to be part of the Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure SRE Team and be part of the multi-year cloud transformation program that we have embarked upon. We require someone who has in-depth experience of engineering and integrating platforms and services on public cloud and has worked with development and business agile teams on successful, medium-large scale, cloud database migrations. We are looking for a passionate infrastructure and cloud advocate who understands infrastructure, development and cloud best practices, industry trends, modern technologies and new ways of working.

This role will be based in Singapore from our central business district office in CapitaGreen.

**The team**

**What you’ll do**
- Engineer a best-in-class cloud database service offering
- Engineer and integrate cloud database solutions & services to industry best practice with scalability, fault tolerance, highly resilient, highly secure, observability, and simplicity in mind
- Run proof of concepts for new cloud database services or cloud third party tooling
- Work with InfoSec colleagues to review and enhance the Azure security posture
- Devise innovative ideas for solving hard technical problems involving distributed systems, scale and security and translate these ideas into designs and implementation
- Work with peers across the virtual cloud team to understand cloud service or enhancement priorities
- Work closely with development teams to help them through the cloud journey, evaluate and identify new cloud service requirements, and engineer and implement globally
- Identify, triage, and constantly automate and evolve the platform by pushing for change that improves reliability, operability and developer experience
- Every week solve exciting new challenges with an amazing team and technology stack
- Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity
- Engineer solutions that are fully automated using infrastructure-as-code and integrated in the CI/CD toolchain

**The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need**
- Minimum 8 years as a SQL database engineer
- Certified in Microsoft Azure Administrator and minimum 2 years on Azure cloud database engineering
- Experience with modern DevOps or Infra-As-Code
- Experience with MS SQL 2005 - 2019 and onwards
- Experience with SQL query/workload performance tuning/troubleshooting
- Experience with partitioning, In memory OLTP, Resource Governor, Query Store, SSRS and SSIS
- Experience with High Availability using SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clustering Instances
- Experience of delivering improvement through debugging code and optimising queries
- Experience with creation and development of scheduled database maintenance routines
- Experience with Active Directory in relation to databases (least privilege access concept)
- Experience with in-depth technical knowledge of PowerShell, TSQL scripting and automation in relation to databases
- Experience with managing large SQL databases (10TB+)
- Experience with in-depth knowledge of security and vulnerability-based approach to security hardening
- Understanding of the importance of metrics and statistics when measuring database performance and capacity
- Infra knowledge on Virtualisation, Database, Networks, Windows, Linux, Storage
- Understanding of PaaS, Infra-As-Code, Compliance-as-Code, and when/how to use & enable
- Experience with modern engineering and agile practices as well as shift left CI/CD
- Experienced with scripting and/or ideally one language, (e.g., PowerShell, TSQL, Python,.NET, Nodejs, Ruby, Java)
- Understanding of broader cloud ecosystem including Cloud Computing Technologies, business drivers and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies and trends.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to self-manage
- Vendor relationship management experience

**The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help**
- Working knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB database engine
- Working knowledge of Azure: Cosmos DB, MySQL Flexible, PostgreSQL Flexible database engine
- Working knowledge of AWS: Aurora, DynamoDB database engine
- Experienced in designing, engineering, and implementing cloud database solutions on Azure/AWS RDS
- Hands on experience of designing, engineering, supporting Kubernetes
- Experience of cloud transformation and change program
