[What the role is]

We are looking looking for Assistant Head / Assistant Director to lead the Fatwa and Religious Guidance (Irsyad) research team and the Fatwa secretariat to recommend policy positions for Muis on religious issues, ensure development and dissemination of contextualized religious content and manage the converts’ administration desk, so as to achieve Muis’ strategic objectives of developing progressive religious guidance for the Singapore Muslim community and strength Singapore Muslim Identity (SMI).

[What will you be working on]
- Lead the fatwa/Irsyad research desk to ensure timely and effective development of well-research and contextualized religious positions providing guidance to Singapore’s Muslim community and sustaining their trust in Muis
- Research and manage Fatwa Records to ensure issues presented to the Fatwa Committee are accurate and well-managed.
- Recommend contextualized religious/policy positions on queries from i) units within Muis; (ii) public; (iii) government agencies.
- Provide religious inputs to assessments on publication/creative content i.e. movies and plays.
- Plan for and execute public education and training related to fatwa/irsyad
- Collaborate with external researchers to strengthen the fatwa research capabilities
- Manage effective content development and coordination of a well-planned content calendar to support the dissemination of progressive religious narratives
- Maintain oversight over converts’ administration desk
- Lead/guide officers managing cases e.g. on dispute resolution process

[What we are looking for]
- Tertiary education in Islamic Studies
- At least 6-8 years of relevant experience with 1-3 years in supervisory role
- Preferably with a strong grasp of Arabic and English language (as you will be working with documents and/or materials in these languages)
- Preferably with background in Islamic research.
