**PURPOSE OF DIVISION**
- The purpose of the Houston Airports (HAS) Maintenance business unit is to effectively deliver self-performed, and contracted, maintenance services at each of the three HAS airports.

**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**
- The purpose of the Cement Finisher position is to perform a wide variety of rough and finished skilled pavement work. Incumbents work from blueprints, specifications, drawings, and instructions to construct, install, and maintain a variety of hard surfaces. Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspect related work by contractors; estimate cost, time, and materials for pavement projects; participate in the maintenance and operation of the Pavement shop. This position may be assigned duties at all Houston Airport System facilities including IAH, HOU, and EFD.

**The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to***:

- Recognize and select appropriate material to repair joints, cracks, breakouts, curbs, and other various hard surfaces with no call backs within the rating period.
- Prepares, repairs, and finishes a variety of hard surfaces such as setting and pulling concrete forms, cutting, and placing still rods on studs, and batching, pouring, and finishing concrete.
- Learn and utilize safe practices concerning, personal safety, hand and power tool usage, and all aspects of fabrication/construction with no instance of incident within rating period.
- Evaluates customer’s needs and prepares to assemble products for customers to ensure the finished product meets the customer’s specifications and is completed in a time set for project.
- Reviews work orders and reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises, and minor burns. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**
- One year of experience in cement or concrete finishing work is required.

**LICENSE REQUIREMENTS**
- Must have a valid Class C Driver’s license and comply with COH policy on driving. Depending on assigned duties, may require a valid Class A, B, or C Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Preference will be given to applicants with a valid CDL with an "H" endorsement for transporting hazardous material.
