The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement, and execute controls testing and compliance assurance reviews that opine on the adequacy of the company systems, controls and processes to manage regulatory, financial crime and conduct risks in accordance with the Assurance Review Plan
- Work with relevant stakeholders to track and advise (where appropriate) on the appropriateness of management action plan to resolve issues identified during compliance assurance reviews
- Review and challenge the management action plan developed by Line 1 to close audit issues relating to regulatory, financial crime and conduct risks
- Escalate key issues arising from compliance assurance reviews with practical suggestions to address the issues
- Prepare management reports to relevant committees, highlighting key findings and recommendations
- Manage key regulatory relationships through value add in compliance assurance reviews
- Collaborate with other Risk or Audit functions to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the compliance assurance reviews work
- Pilot new methods of testing by using data analytics/AI to increase the coverage or rigor of the compliance assurance reviews

**Experience**:

- The role would typically require at least 8-10 years of compliance or regulatory experience
- Experience in planning, executing, and reporting on compliance testing, assurance reviews and regulatory issue validation activities.
- Strong knowledge of regulations and quick learner to understand internal policies and processes.
- Ability and willingness to accept accountability, ownership, demonstrate initiative, work with limited direct supervision and support effective and efficient cross-unit collaboration
- Strong time management and organisational skills, or ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in interacting with senior management, business heads and control functions
- Good team player with a positive mindset who seeks to challenge the norm and articulate fresh perspectives to lead to a better controlled business environment.
- Audit experience will be of added advantage.

**Education**:

- Minimum Bachelor’s degree (majoring in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Law, or equivalent qualification preferred).
