You're a business news junkie who understands what Bloomberg customers need to know first thing in the morning. You've got killer writing chops and strong opinions about what's the most important news of the day. Daybreak, Bloomberg's flagship morning news product, is looking for an editor based in Singapore to help produce our Dubai and London editions, as well as our Bloomberg Open and Close newsletter.
As Editor, you will work closely with our other editors and reporters to help set the daily news agenda for Daybreak - curating both global macro and corporate stories that will anchor Need to Know, determining which stories should get play in the regional and industry sections, and finding quirky yet interesting stories to write for the Nice to Know section. You'll also work with Daybreak's graphic designers to conceive and create cover imagery and compelling charts.
You are at ease working with a large volume of copy and comfortable editing and writing about a broad range of topics, including central bank action, corporate earnings, geopolitics, commodities, M&A, sports and the arts. You will move seamlessly between all aspects of Daybreak, from reporting and writing to line editing and backreading. Bigger picture, you will have the requisite radar to spot bigger trends and be able to connect the dots for both regional and global audiences.
**We'll trust you to**:
- Write and edit items for every section across Daybreak's two platforms that will become an indispensable read for Bloomberg audience
- Be able to work across platforms, and write, record and edit two daily podcasts
- Curate news from other media sources across a broad range of topics
- Conceptualize charts and imagery to make our stories more compelling
- Strive for accuracy and work under tight deadlines
**You'll need to have**:
- A minimum of 5 recent years of experience in financial journalism
- Experience working in a real-time news environment
- Experience covering global markets, economics, politics as a reporter or editor
- Strong work ethic, ability to work steadily and calmly under pressure
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
