**Responsibilities**:

- Assist the CIO in developing thought leadership pieces regarding the real estate industry and investing for internal and external audiences.
- Research new ideas and investment strategies which could impact our business.
- Advance our storytelling abilities in describing the firm, the disruptive agenda, along with investment opportunities and risks.
- Project manage the storyline for different investor meeting pitch decks.
- Assist in developing deeper relationships with Group 1 investors by helping to promote their agenda within the firm.
- Research and Development on potential new investment ideas and strategies.
- Assist the CIO in creating and developing other internal engagement opportunities to gain ideas and insights.
- Coordinate the development of House view work with inputs from the Research team as needed - either product specific or more bespoke (e.g., Japanification).
- Identify industry trends and competitor moves which could impact our business but also be opportunities.
- Partner with other geographic CIO teams to support specialized analyses.
- Identify opportunities for previously unexplored research topics and identify arbitrage opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Research and Risk in support of overall mandate of this role, and to partner on specific analysis.
- Coordinate with Director of Investment Projects roles in other geographies to determine if a trend is anticipated; constantly gather outside-in views and pressure-test internal thinking.
- Help integrate CIOs into external speaking opportunities and partner with Corporate Communications team on Speakers Bureau effort to ensure that best ideas are put forth in actionable ways / translatable ways for our investors and community of clients/tenants/ partners.
- Identify opportunities for external publications alongside the CIO leadership.

**Rotational component of role**:

- The length of time in this role may vary if there is appropriate agreement among the CIO and the individual’s home group’s leadership in Hines.
- If external, the role is intended to be temporary versus a permanent seat.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements include:

- BA/BS Degree in business, analytics, or quantitative streams; advanced degree in relevant area also preferred.
- Five or more years related experience directly in the investment industry, preferably eight or more years of work-related experience overall.
- Strong analytical and modelling skills.
- Demonstrated conceptual problem-solving skills.
- Passion for investing and ability to communicate ideas and information effectively.
- Specific knowledge of relevant Americas/Europe/APAC market depending on geography of focus, and economic principles, as well as solid grasp of mathematical principles underlying investments.
- An expertise in and in-depth understanding of the global real estate market.
- Innate curiosity, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
- Background outside of real estate welcomed.
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary studies, research or interests encouraged Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Must be willing to take a perspective or position and support it with evidence.
