Meta is seeking a Public Policy Manager for Nepal. The person will combine a passion for technology's potential to create opportunity and to connect the community in Nepal in a safe and responsible manner, with deep knowledge of the political and regulatory dynamics in Nepal. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Meta’s mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Meta’s policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers, NGOs, academia, industry associations, technology companies or other relevant organizations. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups. The successful applicant will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety, freedom of expression and growth of the digital economy. This position will be based in Singapore and will report to the Director of Public Policy, South Asia

**Public Policy Manager, Nepal Responsibilities**:

- Monitor Nepal for policy issues at the intersection of technology, social media and local developments impacting the growth of digital economy and society
- Work with policymakers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector organizations on issues of safety, security, content policy and other technology-relevant public policy concerns
- Represent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers and civil society, and diplomatic stakeholders
- Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals
- Assist in the development and management of Meta’'s policies on particular issues or product areas
- Work with cross functional teams across product, legal, marketing and communications across the company to ensure that Meta’s products and programs are advancing external understanding around key policy issues
- Respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues
- Build creative partnerships with advocacy groups, academia and industry bodies

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- 7+ years of experience in related areas of public policy such as government, civil society, corporate policy, journalism, advocacy, or relevant consulting
- Keen understanding of political systems and relevant policy and civil society institutions as well local understanding of the context in Nepal
- Ability to travel frequently (50% of the time) to the region, when possible
- Excellent judgment, excellent communication and persuasive skills, creativity, perspective, the ability to work in a dynamic environment
- Ability to drive and manage multiple projects and campaigns simultaneously
- Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully and creatively
- Passion for driving impact in technology, digital rights, and economic development, and experience with relevant policy issues, including hate speech, content, privacy, open internet, online safety, small and medium business, etc.
- Fluency in Nepali is required for this role as it will require extensive engagement with local external partners on a regular basis
