Natural Resource Specialist

**Duties**:

- Collaborate with various levels of personnel to develop, propose, and recommend significant natural resource and soil sampling strategies for all phases of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Greenhouse Gas quantification effort.
- Partner with Agency leadership to ensure national consistency and technical compliance of sampling and data collection guidance.
- Provide expert technical guidance and direction for assigned natural resources management programmatic segments.
- Facilitate cooperation and acceptance of new ideas and new program emphasis; leads strategic planning processes; identifies and solves sensitive problems; and advocates and justifies new programmatic initiatives.

- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

- Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license for the type of vehicle(s) operated to perform the duties of this position.

**Qualifications**:

- Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
- **Basic Education Requirement**:
**Degree**:biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.; **_OR_**
**Combination of Education and Experience**:Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- **In addition to meeting one of the Basic Requirements listed above, applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered**:
**Specialized Experience**:To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Plan and execute major natural resource management studies or continuing specialized conservation projects; and provide direction for a wide range of complex natural resource management programs and initiatives.
- Note: There is no education substitution for specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

**Additional information**:

- Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary and performed at a desk or in travel status. There may be some intermittent physical activities, such as walking over rough terrain when making on-site data collection trips. Also required are periods of standing and carrying of source materials.
