**Asia Head of Risk
**Key responsibilities**
- Support Retail CRO with oversight of Sompo’s Overseas Insurance companies located in Asia (“the Overseas companies”)
- Facilitate the rollout of Group risk initiatives to the Overseas companies
- Assist in the development of local operational risk policies for the Overseas companies
- Provide review and thoughtful challenge of the operational risk identification and assessments performed by local staff, and facilitate the design and execution of company mitigation plans
- Oversee an internal incident reporting process and track external operational risk events that may provide valuable insights
- Ensure that the Overseas companies are in compliance with local risk-related regulatory requirements
- Maintain frequent communication and build rapport with key stakeholders
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Compliance and Internal Audit
- Keep abreast of latest operational risk best practices
- Provide ad hoc risk management support to the Overseas companies

**Qualifications**
- Bachelors or advanced degree in a relevant technical field
- Minimum 7 years’ experience within the insurance industry
- Solid understanding of process, risk, and control design concepts and governance from an operational risk management or audit perspective
- Sound business acumen and ability to think critically and independently, without close supervision
- Strong communication skills, including comfort in presenting to executive level
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to thrive while working in a team environment
