Position Summary
You serve as a critical member of the studio leadership team and leader to look after the talent and operational needs of your studio. You connect the dots to help ensure that our artist and production employee experience is great where artists want to stay, come back to work on another show, or tell others to join ILM. You do this by knowing deeply what matters to our artists, technical, support and production teams and by working with various teams to help create new ways to motivate, recognize, and grow our talent’s careers at ILM. This position reports to the Executive in Charge, Singapore & Sydney Studios
What You’ll Do:
- Manage and plan resources and utilization to ensure operational efficiency and alignment with business plans by regular review and reporting.
- Work actively with EIC on organizational and operational strategies to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and preserve a great work experience and culture for all employees.
- Serve as the single point of contact for your studio various departments for local issues and other studios to ensure talent and operations are factored into studio-level decisions and strategies.
- Partners with EIC on strategic and overall management of capacity and looks for innovation and effective ways of working (i.e., processes, systems, ways of working, decision making, etc.).
- Local escalation for local crewing issues with production and capacity management and serves as voice for the studio on capacity meetings and other forums based on local knowledge of talent pool.
- Work with production to ensure we have and are actively growing the right artist mix (junior, mid, senior) and pipeline of talent to ensure artist and production capacity on crewed shows.
- Helps monitor monthly compensation spend and bid rates and monitors strategic overhead for studio as well as overhead forecasting with finance and production.
- Work actively with studio Manager, Talent Acquisition to ensure roles are filled and we are building diverse pipelines of talent to fill key roles for the future (i.e., events, programs, initiatives, etc.)
- Guide studio talent management to provide overall talent strategy and priorities such as strategic initiatives for diversity, career, and performance mgmt.
- Partner with studio HR on artist offers and onboarding including compensation and rates, relocation, remote working, immigration, onboarding experience, training with studio talent group, etc.
- Lead studio operations related to internal communications and events, facilities, and general operations of the Singapore studio.
- Monitor production finance outcomes in partnership with local producers and provide local solutions to manage shows within budget. Escalate to EIC, Creative Director and to appropriate Executive Producers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and standards, sign and approve expenses, timecard approvals, work with Finance on travel and tax related issues and questions. Local approver for signing documents as assigned by the EIC.
What We Are Looking For:
- BS in Film Art or equivalent experience or education
- 10+ years or equivalent experience in operations and/or production
- Prior experience in the VFX industry or related field, direct experience on VFX show(s) a plus
- Prior expertise setting operational and talent strategy, priorities, and timeline
- Experience and knowledge of talent management, career, and performance management
- Experience in financial processes including headcount mgmt., managing P&L, T&E, tax, etc.
