**Role overview:.**
- The board certified veterinary behaviour specialist will be an integral part of the veterinary behaviour department.
- The veterinary behaviour specialist focuses on diagnosing and managing behavioural problems in animals using evidence-based methods.

**Consultation and Diagnosis**:

- Conduct thorough clinical behavioural assessments and consultations, including medical evaluations.
- Identify underlying causes of behavioural issues, such as medical conditions, environmental factors, or learned behaviours.

**Treatment**:

- Develop individualized behaviour modification plans and treatment protocols.
- When appropriate and diagnosed, prescribe and manage medications to support behaviour therapy.
- Educate pet owners on implementing necessary intervention to address behavioural challenges.

**Client & Stakeholders Communication**:
Partner with Primary Care Physician (PCP), certified animal trainers, and animal care professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide clear communication and training to pet owners about behaviour management techniques.
- Deliver ongoing support and follow-up to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

**Education and Training**:

- Train, veterinary behaviourist residents and other veterinary staff on behavioural issues, safe handling techniques, and early intervention strategies.
- When available, to organize workshops, seminars, or webinars for clients.
- Stay updated on the latest research in animal behaviour and veterinary science.

**Record Keeping and Compliance**:

- Maintain accurate and detailed medical and behavioural records for all cases.

**Desired skills and experience**:
**Education**:Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree.
- **Specialization**:Board certification from the American College of Veterinary Behaviourists (ACVB) or European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine or equivalent credential.
- **Experience**:Prior experience in veterinary behaviour consulting, or related roles.
