Singapore U.S. Coast Guard Full time

**Duties**:
This position serves as a Supervisory Division Chief and a Federal Maritime Surgeon (FMS) for the Coast Guard at the Coast Guard's National Maritime Center (NMC) and is responsible for determining the medical suitability of approximately 220,000 active U.S. merchant mariners. This position is located in the Medical Evaluation Division (NMC-6) of the NMC. The NMC manages the Mariner Credentialing Program (MCP) and is responsible for implementing policies related to one or more missions of the United States Coast Guard.
- Serving as the senior medical officer of the National Maritime Center and is responsible for determining the medical suitability of approximately 335,000 active U.S. merchant mariners. Planning and directing fitness for certification occupational health evaluations for the population of all merchant mariners. The mariner population represents a large variety of health hazards and problems that may present a safety risk to the marine transportation system. The variety of duties performed by merchant mariners requires a substantial and exceptional range and depth of occupational medicine determinations. As the senior medical officer, the incumbent ensures consistency of agency medical evaluations conducted by the Division medical evaluation personnel.

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Requirements**:

- Degree:_ Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (external link); Association of American Medical Colleges (external link); Liaison Committee on Medical Education (external link); Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
- Degree from Foreign Medical School:_ A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (external link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

**Licensure**:
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
