Project Manager

My client, a global bank, is hiring an AVP project manager to join their COO office covering operations, governance, regulatory & risk topics for the corporate & investment bank. The role requires exceptional stakeholder management and business project management experience spanning multiple lines of business.

**Background**

The role is for a Project Manager (AVP) as part of our client's SEA COO Office, where 80% of the role would be focused on driving projects of a strategic/regulatory nature which impacts businesses across the entire bank - primarily corporate & investment banking - but also covering wealth, securities services and other divisions.

The role will be part of a team that directly supports the Bank COO for the SEA region. As such, projects involve significant coordination, oversight and collaboration with different lines of businesses under the banking group, regularly facing off with senior management and engaging stakeholders all across the bank.

The nature of projects are non-IT and often times to do with coordinating activities to satisfy regulatory needs. For example attending to MAS Surveys, coordinating data points for annual certifications of the bank for the COO/CEO, liaising with global counterparts in Europe for industry wide credit risk stress testing exercises, looking at Volcker activities in loan book etc.

Up to 20% of the job will be handling more BAU responsibilities, wherein this team also sits on governance/operational risk control committees, is the secretary to those committees, organizing/contributing slides to various COO-related presentations and meetings etc.

This is a very visible and exciting opportunity for a creative individual with outside-the-box thinking and dynamic personality to drive diverse projects across a global bank under the SEA COO. The role also requires someone with exceptional stakeholder management skills, given significant face-time with seniors like the COO and CEO.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span across one or multiple lines of business.
- Assume ownership of topics related to assigned projects for relevant tasks, procedures, regulatory survey/submissions/certification or queries.
- Provide leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
- Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously.
- Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment to management.
- Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project.
- Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution.
- Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication.

**Requirements**:

- Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
- Experience in Agile, SCRUM etc. methodologies will be an added advantage.
- Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
- 7+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects.
- 7+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a crossfunctional matrix banking environment.
- Must have previous project experience in implementing bank-wide regulatory requirements
