Application Support Engineer

Role:

- Enhance, support and maintain the firm’s Commodities front, middle and back-office systems
- Work as a part of the global Application Support team based in Chicago, New York, London, San Francisco, Houston, Hong Kong and Singapore
- Proactively engage with PMs, Traders, and Analysts to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities
- Document common support issues, trade flows and procedures on Confluence
- Roll out, setup, and educate end-users on new product implementations
- Support other geographic locations e.g., monitor jobs running overnight in Asia, EU and US.
- Work with external vendors technical support teams to resolve issues and deliver strategic enhancements
- Provide escalation support for other regions, including evenings and weekends, on a rotational basis

**Requirements**:

- 5+ years of experience working with investment banks, asset managers, commodity houses, investment advisors or associated software vendors
- Thorough understanding of the trade life cycle for Commodities products, such as Gas, Power, Oil, Metals, Ags or Freight. Must be able to discuss details of these products with Portfolio Managers, Analysts and Risk Managers.
- Experience supporting physical commodities trading
- Experience supporting Production environments within an ITIL framework and Development environments using agile methodologies
- Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, including being able to interpret, understand and troubleshoot internally developed systems
- Experience supporting Commodities trading platforms such as Trayport Joule, WebICE and EEX
- Experience supporting CTRM/ETRM platforms such as ION Endur/CXL and Openlink
- Knowledge of Market Data services - Trayport/B-PIPE/MorningStar
- Knowledge of Messaging platforms - RabbitMQ/Solace/Kafka
- SQL experience across various database implementations, including MSSQL
- Operate with a high degree of accuracy with close attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
