**Senior Leadership General Responsibilities**
- Advising the Principal and Senior Vice Principal on academic staff recruitment and related issues
- Senior Leaders have joint responsibility for all aspects of the school relating to the education and development of the students; each has a focus of responsibility, but all contribute to the whole and support the work of others.
- Create and foster an environment of reflective practice and development, leading by example in all aspects of personal and professional development.
- Develop and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others.
- Lead by example as a teacher and as a leader and manager, achieving high standards of pupil achievement and motivation through excellent teaching.
- To lead teams and individuals in line with specific areas of responsibility
- Have a teaching commitment in line with Vice Principal status.
- Sustain effective, positive relationships with staff, pupils, parents, Governors and the local community.
- To contribute to the whole school development plan as and when required
- Relevant reports to Governors/Principal
- To contribute to the admissions and marketing events as and when required
- To complete all supervisory duties, as required by Senior Team members, and directed through published rotas.
- To ensure safeguarding and child protection policies and practices across the school are in line with best practice and ensure all students safeguarding needs are met.
- To maintain open dialogue between the school, students and their parents on all matters educational.
- Attend relevant school events and activities.
- Manage budget(s) in line with areas of responsibility.
- Production of key School publications as detailed in the ST Portfolio document
- Organisation of key Senior School events as detailed in the ST Portfolio document
**The Academic Programme in the Senior School**
- To be responsible for the standards of teaching and curriculum provision throughout the Senior School through Line Management of the Senior School Academic Assistant Principals and Heads of Department
- To keep abreast of Teaching and Learning matters in relation to the students and advise Senior Leadership of their relevance and impact on the School
- To ensure that the Senior School department development plans are fit for purpose and impact directly on securing improvement in classroom provision and exceptional academic outcomes.
- To oversee the design and implementation of the academic monitoring programme across the Senior School and ensure that resulting actions and strategies impact directly on securing improvement in classroom provision and exceptional academic outcomes.
- To lead on Senior School Performance Management interventions.
- To oversee the quality and relevance of homework in the Senior School to ensure it is fit for purpose and successful in supporting students learning within the classroom.
- To advise the Principal on all matters relating to teaching and learning
- To provide reports to the Principal as and when required on standards of teaching and curriculum provision in the Senior School
- To lead the Assistant Principals (Academic) to ensure that the organisation and delivery of the MYP and DP curriculum is high quality and meets all expectations of the IBO
- To oversee the options processes from G5 to 6, G8 to 9, and G10 to 11.
- Leadership and oversight the school’s academic enrichment activities
- Leading on all aspects of assessment, recording and reporting
- Leadership of the academic rewards programme in the senior school
- To work with the Vice Principal holding responsibility for Professional Development, to ensure that the academic PD needs of the staff are met
**Curriculum Development in the Senior School**
- To ensure that the Senior School curriculum provision is that expected of an NLCS school. That it is relevant, knowledge-rich and challenging supporting our students to exceptional academic outcomes
- To keep fully up to date with curriculum developments in the UK, and with the MYP and IBDP, and ensure that any changes are appropriately addressed
