Senior Construction Manager

Lendlease Singapore is currently searching for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to join the Project Management & Construction team responsible for the build and delivery of a range of projects.

The Senior Construction Manager is the leader of the construction delivery team and reports directly to the overall Project Construction Director or Operations Director. The Senior Construction Manager has a strong background in the life-sciences and manufacturing industries and is experienced in leading teams of construction professionals. The Senior Construction Manager drives a high-performing, collaborative team culture and is accountable for ensuring successful construction delivery from a safety, quality, schedule, cost and client satisfaction perspective.

Key accountabilities of the Senior Construction Manager:

- As the overall leader of the construction team, the Senior Construction Manager takes accountability for the overall outcome of the project from a Safety, Quality, Time and Cost perspective
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the Client, designers, subcontractors, building officials, local businesses, and authorities
- To drive an un-compromising culture of safety throughout the project workforce and lead by example.
- Develop the project execution strategy and provide leadership and guidance to the project team in delivering the project in accordance with the execution strategy.
- Working in close collaboration with the Engineering design consultants to ensure the design incorporates constructability, construction methodology and value engineering considerations.
- Lead internal Project Review Meetings
- Regular reporting and communication on project status to the Project Steering Group, including progress, key risks and mitigations.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the Head Contract and Subcontracts, administering these contracts in the best interest of Lendlease at all times.
- Build the project team including assigning roles and responsibilities. Prioritise, coordinate and deploy project resources in accordance with the project execution plan.
- Responsible for developing and leading a productive team culture in line with LL Core Values.
- Clearly understand the dynamics between all project stakeholders and take positive action to resolve conflicts and foster a high performing team environment.
- As the overall team leader, take an active interest in the skills and career development of the project staff.
- Identify and document key lessons learnt and areas of opportunity upon project completion

Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S)
- Overall EH&S leader and take ultimate accountability for the team’s EH&S performance. Leading by example at all times and developing a strong safety culture throughout the team.
- Thoroughly understand all obligations under the WSH Act and Lendlease’s Global Minimum Requirements (GMR’s). Ensure these obligations are discharged effectively throughout the project team at all levels.
- Implement systems and procedures to ensure the workforce (including subcontractors) operate safely and in accordance with Lendlease GMR’s. Drive the Lendlease team to actively foster a strong safety culture by calling out unsafe acts and praising good safety behaviour.
- Understand that it will be unacceptable for you to walk past any unsafe or potentially unsafe act, without taking appropriate action to rectify. Instil this mindset throughout the project workforce.
- Be proactive and communicate EHS expectations and performance clearly with the workforce, Lendlease team and with the Client.

Quality
- Overall responsibility for delivering a facility of high quality and ensuring the final product meets or exceeds the requirements set out in the design drawings, specifications, procedures.
- Work closely with the Project Quality Manager to drive a strong quality culture within the team. Set clear expectations with the Lendlease team and subcontractors to take a ‘right first time’ mindset to prevent rather than rectify defects and NCR’s.
- Ensure that the Lendlease team and Subcontractors develop a thorough understanding of the project specifications and drawings and ensure that the physical quality and documentation are of the highest standard.
- Ensure that there is a robust system in place to identify defects and have them rectified in a timely manner.
- Ensure that quality expectations are well defined from the outset with all staff and contractors.
- Put in place processes to ensure the project documentation is detailed, well organised and compiled.
