Assistant Vice President/ Vice President Patching

**Your background**
- Ability to work evenings / weekends
- Excellent attention to detail to follow documented procedures, ability to continually offer suggestions to simplify and improve procedures
- Experience and complete working knowledge of operating system base health/welfare and x86 midrange IBM, HP, Dell hardware troubleshooting.
- Experience in diagnosing, researching and resolving system platform related issues
- 5+ years of experience with Red Hat Linux 6.x, 7.x, 8.x OS & Kernel, experience with Solaris
- 5+ years of experience working with servers in an enterprise environment consisting of 1,500 or more servers
- Good analytical, reporting skills. Must have reasonable skills in Microsoft office (Excel/Powerpoint)
- Desired Skills:

- Scripting - Ansible, Perl, Shell, Python
- Experience with VCS & RHCS clustering solutions for Redhat Linux
- Experience with PXE, 10/40GB, Mellanox, SolarFlare Products and Technology

- Patches are applied in accordance with timelines established by Global Information Security
- When patches cannot be applied within mandated timelines, a remediation plan is defined and approved by both the Line of Business and Global Information Security

The team requires a senior Unix/Linux system engineer with strong communication skills, excellent operational execution & troubleshooting skills, and experience working within enterprise environments. You will be part of a team contributing to actively reducing the number of server vulnerabilities across support scope. This role is primarily focused operating system server patch and core ancillary upgrades & installation, and the associated communication, troubleshooting and change control efforts as part of monthly patching routines.

**What you will do**
- Execute and oversee server patching during specified maintenance windows using a variety of mechanisms and tools including BladeLogic jobs, custom scripts and perform manual updates where required on more complex systems
- Execute pre-checks to help ensure successful patching events and post-checks to ensure system stability and configuration consistency
- Troubleshoot and resolve patch and server failures and escalate where needed. The person must be able to quickly identify network or infrastructure related problems and manage the remediation/escalation. This resource serves as a bridge in explaining symptoms and troubleshooting performed to global operations teams if necessary
- Document and maintain operational procedures
