The **PRINCIPAL COUNSELLOR **is to:
- oversee a team of staff counsellors, contract counsellors and volunteer counsellors working effectively serving in both the community and school setting.
- provide counselling support and develop intervention plans for youths, from 12 to 25 years old.
- The ultimate goal is to further C3’s mandate of providing positive support to youths’ psychological and emotional well-being.
- The youth counsellor is trained to deal with a broad scope of issues and will be required to work with youths in an individual and group setting. Our environment includes community, school and possibly church and training spaces.
- Lead in the supervision, training, allocation of cases, outreach and face-to-face counselling
- networks and collaborates with fellow counselling agencies to support the clients
**Responsibilities**
Leads a team of counsellors and:
- Sets the direction of counselling in C3
- Sets policies about the counselling framework in C3 counselling
- Leads a team in providing individual counselling for youths in need with him/herself leading in higher risk cases
- Provide group counselling for youths and their families
- Organizes and conducts psycho-education workshops and support group
- Coordinates and run outreach and public education activities relating to mental health
- Network with relevant stakeholders and external organizations
- Conduct analysis of community needs, develop, implement and grow counselling programmes and services to meet the needs of the community
- To plan, execute and evaluate ongoing counselling programmes and services
- To manage and provide clinical supervision for interns, volunteers and staff in their counselling work
**Requirements**:
- Possess Bachelor's or Masters in Counselling; with certification in specific modalities in Counselling
- Have some experience in individual counselling and group work preferably in mental health areas
- Able to spearhead campaigns and collaborate with fellow counselling agencies
- Understands the counselling framework in schools and the community
- Able to lead a team in working with youths, families and other stakeholders
- Member of or is eligible for membership with The Singapore Association for Counselling
- Conversant in English, and preferably, a second language
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Pleasant and strong supervisory and interpersonal skills
- Able to work as a team as well as independently
- Driven by a passion to serve
- Mature and pleasant disposition
**Other Responsibilities**
- Assist in the various Programmes of C3 as required
- Assist in fundraising, administration and other responsibilities as required
- Any other responsibilities as agreed upon and assigned
