**What the role is**
- Purpose of Job
- To carry out operations to ensure and secure a supply of safe food that include
- Inspection, sampling, and enforcement activities to ensure the food businesses and slaughterhouses comply with SFA’s regulations;
- Response to contingency operations, feedback on food safety issues, investigation of foodborne outbreaks and recall of food.

**What you will be working on**
- Duties
- Conduct inspection and sampling at local slaughterhouses and processing establishments to ensure that their operations comply with SFA’s legislation and that they have an effective system to ensure only healthy animals are slaughtered for food and the meat and meat products processed are safe and wholesome for public consumption;
- Carry out inspections and enforcement activities on other SFA licensed food businesses and imported food consignments;
- Conduct surveillance, including data collection and analysis, not limited to the health status of imported live animals for epidemiological purposes;
- Investigate and respond to public enquiries pertaining to food safety and hygiene issues of SFA licensed food businesses;
- Provide guidance and advice to SFA licensees in meeting the regulatory and food safety requirements (e.g. provide advice and/or training on elimination and/or control of food safety hazards and prevention of occupational hazards and diseases related with live animals and their products).
- Implement and manage operational activities that include recalls of unsafe food products, contingency operations involving food safety in food businesses, etc.
- Conduct review, develop initiatives and lead projects related to food safety, collaborating with relevant stakeholders such as food industry and other agencies, where required.

**What we are looking for**
- Requirements
- Previous experience in the food industry and/or knowledge of Veterinary Science/ Food Science/ Food Technology/ Chemistry/ Life Sciences/ Biology or Science related

discipline is preferred.
- Possess experience in a relevant job is preferred.
- Possess a valid Class 3 driving licence is preferred.
- Willing to work outside normal office hours and shift work.
- Able to work in processing plants and slaughterhouses which can be noisy, wet and with unpleasant smell.
