**What the role is**
- You will be working with a team of Scientists and supervise a team of Laboratory Officers to provide quality and efficient forensic testing of seized drug exhibits. You will also be in-charge of R&D projects and participate in quality assurance activities.
**What you will be working on**
- Job Description: - Forensic examination and analysis of seized drug exhibits, reviewing and reporting of test results pertaining to the presence of controlled drugs, controlled substances, or poisons. - Devise experimental plan for the identification of new psychoactive substances which can include drug synthesis, purification or isolation of drugs using appropriate techniques. - In-charge of R&D projects and to perform horizon scanning for new technologies to enhance drug testing capabilities. - Provide expert testimony in court. - Provide expert consultation to clients in drug testing. - Supervise Laboratory Officers in the management of casework. - Involve in management of the operation and maintainence of laboratory equipment, instruments and resources. - Assist in the implementation of quality assurance program in the laboratory.
**What we are looking for**
- Job Requirements: - Background in Chemistry or related field. - Strong analytical skills with experience in analytical equipment such as LC, GC, GCMS and IR. - Relevant experience in structural elucidation of unknowns using advanced techniques such as NMR, LC-HRMS. - Meticulous, innovative and strong critical thinking. - Good time management skills and able to work independently with a good sense of team spirit. - Excellent written and spoken English. Proficient in writing scientific papers and giving oral presentation. - Experience with RPA, statistical software (such as R, SPSS, SAS, Unscrambler or MatLab) and programming language (such as Python or Visual Basic) would be an advantage. *Please note that only shortlisted applicants will be notified.
