Salesforce is partnering with Alibaba Cloud to offer its core products in China, this is to help support existing multinational customers that want to retain and expand their presence in the GCR and need Salesforce to run in the region to meet China regulatory guidance.

The Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud DevOps Release team is a brand new Organization within Security Engineering, with an exciting mission to bootstrap adoption of the industry’s leading-edge DevOps principles and best practices at Salesforce.

This DevOps Release Engineer will be a part of the Salesforce on Alibaba Cloud Infrastructure team, supporting technology infrastructure to meet the substantial growth needs of the business. You will require a strong knowledge of release engineering, app infrastructure (on public cloud), and automation. DevOps Release Engineers at Salesforce are the cornerstone of the technology teams with tremendous responsibilities and high visibility. They will be responsible for all app configurations, deployments in the dev/test environments on cloud platforms such as Amazon/Alibaba. The DevOps Release engineer will also focus on automation of the release engineering activities, and build self service tools for internal teams and customers.

A key aspect of this role will be supporting environments in Public Cloud environments such as AWS/Alibaba and other substrates.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work with a global team (US and SG based) to coordinate work efforts, report status
- Attention to efficiency and ability to spot and deliver on self service opportunities to your internal customers, driving automation where necessary..
- Strong knowledge for a Source Control Management system like Perforce and Git.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand database structures and construct basic SQL queries.
- Working closely with developers to reproduce/troubleshoot environment and infrastructure related issues quickly.
- Ability to track and trend on deployment issues and collaborate with peers to drive solutions.
- Lead efforts for automation of systems and software deployment
- Lead efforts of cloud migration and evolve operational processes to adopt substrate agnostic processes
- Responsibility and accountability for the availability and reliability of our service.
- Design, develop, deploy, and enhance automation to reliably manage the monitoring platform infrastructure
- Build automation wherever possible to improve the development team’s agility.
- Administering cloud-based Infrastructure deployment which includes tasks such as provisioning/de-provisioning of resources, maintaining security posture, user administration, monitoring computing resource utilization, network setup, backup/restore and incident management.

**Required Skills/Experience**:

- Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, etc.).
- 3+ years experience with a scripting language: Python, Shell scripting, Java.
- 3+ years experience working on Unix platforms.
- 3+ years working on AWS/GCP/Alibaba
- Perforce knowledge, GIT.
- Demonstrated ability to support Development Operations in dev, test environments.
- Proficiency with Structure and Object oriented programming.
- Working knowledge of file systems, process management, secure coding, database/SQL, SSH/telnet, HTTP, XML, Networking basics, Storage NAS/SAN.
- Deployment experience using Docker Containers
- Working knowledge of Splunk queries and reporting
- Strong automation and scripting development experience to manage and monitor Cloud Infrastructure
- Knowledge on CI/CD Tooling, including Terraform, Spinnaker, and Jenkins
- Created build, test, deploy pipelines

**Preferred qualifications**:

- Experience with on-call rotation, leading incident response and no-blame postmortem analysis
- Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks
- Mandarin Speaking Preferred to work with customers from Greater China regi
