DESIGNATION : Student Care Officer (2-year contract), WKLSWC

RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Mrs Wong Kwok Leong Student Wellness Centre.
- Establishing and enhancing a care support system that encompasses student welfare, mental wellness initiatives and early intervention measures including education, prevention and outreach programmes such as peer support initiatives.
- Conducting case management and supporting students of the schools, particularly those with problems or potential problems, which include academic and personal issues. The aim is to help these students who would otherwise be burdened with concerns that would impede their academic pursuits.
- Being a point of contact for the students in Schools;
- Advising individual students on wellbeing practices and making available appropriate resources;
- Building knowledge and a keen sense of the general wellbeing of students;
- Identifying potential wellbeing issues and advising students on contacting the appropriate support service.
- Maintaining close communication and collaboration with fellow Student Care Officers, ODOS staff and counsellors.
- Being familiar with ‘warning’ signs that may indicate a health or wellbeing issue, who one can contact with any concerns about a student’s health and wellbeing, and the procedures for helping students in need.
- Managing and analysing the pulse surveys, identifying needs and trends and propose/execute intervention/preventive measures.
- Conducting briefings and workshops for faculty on the School’s student care support, the counselling services available at the University Student Wellness Centre, mental health and early intervention so that they are able to detect students with issues as early as possible for them to be given the necessary help and care.
- Planning and organising talks/activities for students on mental health (stress management, better buddy system, etc.) at student events and school events.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or related field.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of counselling experience is required.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong understanding and familiarity with higher education environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with student and staff populations.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
- Good computer skills including MS Office, and database usage.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students and staff.
- Work in cross-cultural settings and strong interest in working with a diverse population of students.
- Interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
- Adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
- Analyse feedback data and identify needs and gaps of the system in place.
- Good co-ordination and organizational skills.
