Singapore St John's Home for Elderly Persons Full time

St John’s Home for Elderly Persons is a residential Home under the Ministry of Social and Family Affairs. We have been providing quality and compassionate care to seniors for over 60 years. The Nursing Aide (NA) is responsible for the nursing care of our residents in our Home.

**Objectives of this Role**
- Assist in managing the nursing needs of our residents in the Home in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, rules, and guidelines
- Report to Senior Staff Nurse (SSN) on all nursing matters.
- Ensure prompt and quality service delivery

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Keep track of resident medical appointments and accompany PA residents to medical appointments.
- Manage residents’ medication (proper and accurate sorting, updating, packing, labelling and recording) and ensure that residents take their medications and take them timely and correctly.
- Attend to medical emergencies and arrange for an ambulance when required.
- Perform regular blood pressure and weight measurement and highlight cases of concern to the Senior Staff Nurse (SSN).
- Be attentive to residents’ conditions and needs, diagnose the problem and take appropriate action to attend to residents who are not well.
- Keep track of diabetic residents.
- Communicate with sponsors about residents’ medical conditions and medical needs, including residents’ medical appointments and the need to top up medication.
- Assists the movement of weak residents, especially wheelchair residents.
- Bathe residents who need assistant.
- See to residents’ personal needs. Give bed pan and urinals when required. Help residents wear and change diapers.
- Feed residents who need help during mealtimes.
- Ensure that All residents are accounted during the three main meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). If any resident is missing during these meals, Nursing Aide (NA) is responsible to find out the cause.
- Visit the resident in the room as necessary.
- Watch out for residents’ personal upkeep (smell, change of clothing/diaper, hair, nails). Take necessary actions to ensure that all residents are properly groomed. For those who need help, please do ensure that their nails are trimmed regularly.
- Please raise immediate concerns to Senior Staff Nurse (SSN).
- Maintain first aid box and clinic supplies.
- Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of clinic.
- Proper filing of resident records.
- Undertake any additional duties the Head of Operation (HOO) may assign.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum relevant Diploma or equivalent experience of at least 2 years.
- Good knowledge and practice of nursing care skills.
- Calm and composed during emergency crisis.
- Able to think out of box for suggestions.
- Able to communicate with Sponsors on resident nursing matters.
- Able to communicate clearly and work effectively with fellow Nursing Care Team and other staff members.
