**Mechanical Design Engineer - JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Award-winning medical device startup (GyroGear.co **) has a single opening for a skilled **Mechanical Design Engineer **at our **Singapore office **.

We are developing intelligent wearable devices to stabilise hand tremors for 200 million people globally.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the management of the design, engineering drawings and CAD data storage at the correct revision level. The engineer will aid in the procurement, and delivery of GyroGear projects. Hand calculations will be required to determine suitability of concepts.

A good grasp of manufacturing methods is required as good communication with suppliers and machine shops is paramount. As such, some international travel will be required to facilitate/participate in travel to suppliers premises to ensure right-first-time principles.

The engineer will provide leadership and guidance to the project delivery. Close interaction with all team members is always required in this small company team.

This shall cumulate towards ensuring detailed design of GyroGear’s products are in line with the company values, strategy, ethical standards and quality are met or exceeded without fail.

The engineer’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

- Design Asset Generation
- Produce standard designs using CAD software and create assembly prints, mechanical drawings and fabrication specifications.
- To produce 2D drawings to ISO standards.
- Modify designs to correct operating and production issues.
- Design Management
- Pilot the bill of materials, cost and tooling requirements, plus suggest cost-down ideas for increasing manufacturing volume scenarios.
- Document and ensure all design steps according to medical regulatory standards (i.e. manage and administer all CAD data alongside revision history).
- Able to utilise good engineering practices (e.g. decision matrix, P-diagrams and FMEA's to evaluate all conceptual design avenues).
- Design Prototyping & Testing
- Collaborate with the R&D team regarding electrical and mechanical design concepts.
- Provide technical support during assembly and installation of related development equipment.
- Evaluate testing data, altering designs as necessary to bring them to safety, performance and efficiency standards.
- Design testing methods to analyse product capabilities and troubleshoot relevant engineering issues.
- Ensure that design implementation, test, and maintenance methods/processes are developed and executed in a manner that supports company quality standards
- Product development from design and development through implementation.
- Analyse mechanical problems and produce innovative solutions using multiple fabrication and material methods.
- Monitoring progress and status of all assignments and report progress and problems to management.
- Evaluate mechanical designs for potential flaws and offer modifications to eliminate potential problems.
- Work on product-sustaining projects, which involve replacement or redesign for obsolete components, product improvement features, cost reduction, manufacturing support, and field complaints.
- Prepare assembly or product layout and detailed drawings, and participate in the manufacture or building of prototype product or system
- Work closely with the regulatory team to ensure adherence to required standards (i.e. ISO 13485, 14971, 60601) and to maintain the quality management system.
- Contributing heavily to innovation, next generation development.
- Collaborate with other team leaders and departments.
- Coach and supervise colleagues as and when needed.
- International travel as needs be.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, advanced degrees (e.g. MSc, PhD) are a bonus.
- Core CAD Competency in:

- Solidworks and/or Creo
- AutoDesk Fusion 360 (Bonus)
- Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Able to carry out simple calculations to determine suitability of designs.
- To keep up to date with manufacturing techniques:

- Injection moulding and/or CNC machining
- Additional prior work experience in electronics engineering and/or software engineering is desirable.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and bioengineering.
- Project coordination experience a must.
- Expert-level knowledge of sector technology and processes
- Professional team-player with strong communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, who is able to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
