Singapore MY COMMUNITY LIMITED Full time

My Community is a non-profit organisation which conducts community-based participatory research and heritage assessments; establishes community museums, archives and libraries; organises participatory programmes and guided tours; and cocreate community architecture and urban spaces. We seek to preserve our social memories, celebrate our shared culture and heritage and champion greater community involvement in cultural management and urban governance.

Before we were formally registered as a society on 26 August 2010, we started engaging the Queenstown community through befriending in 2006, organising guided tours in 2008 and blogging in 2009. On 12 December 2015, My Community was registered as a charity under the Charities Act. We were then recognised as an Institution of Public Character on 13 December 2016.

Today, My Community boasts almost 700 volunteers. Our first community museum in Queenstown was opened on 31 December 2018.
- A passionate community curator who is keen to work with the community stakehholders to co-curate exhibitions, museums and heritage corners and develop an accessible, sustainable and inclusive collections management system for My Community's community archives
- To conceptualise, organise and conduct oral history interviews, focus group discussions, cultural mapping and other community-based research methodologies for exhibitions and galleries
- To conceptualise, coordinate and prepare heritage research reports, documentation projects, publications and tour brochures.
- To work with the stakeholders to co-develop, co-maintain and update the Collections Management Policy and Collections Development Policy in My Community
- To develop and maintain a detailed collections management system which document object information accurately.
- To ensure high standards of collections care, from acquisition to conservation to display.
- To handle objects of various mediums, prepare objects for storage and exhibition; Pack and label objects for loan; Design and prepare exhibit mounts for delicate objects on display and in storage.
- To assist the community researcher to organise information in content narratives to express it as a spatial/exhibition design with a thoughtful approach to 3D elements, graphics and eventual fabrication (colours/materials/finishes/construction methods) etc
- To research independently at archives and resource centres.

**Requirements**:

- Keen interest in interacting with the community (residents, shopkeepers, students, diverse stakeholders and partners) on arts, culture and heritage.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in History, Geography, Collections Management, Heritage/Cultural/Museum Studies, Library Science, Information Management, Cultural Management and Archives and Records Management.
- **Minimum 3 to 5 years **of relevant working experience in the library, archives, collections management, museum, heritage and cultural sector.
- Proficient in community and cultural mapping, oral history interviews, surveys, data mapping and archival research
- Keen interest in Singapore's communities, building architecture, neighbourhood planning and layout, and history.
- Ability to write and converse in English and one of the national languages (Malay, Tamil and Mandarin) fluently.
- Creative and organised individual with good design flair and interpretation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team and effectively under pressure in multiple projects to meet tight deadlines.
- Able to work on either Saturday or Sunday.
