Overall Purpose of The Job

To direct the Marine Management Team and all marine and commercial aspects of the management of the ships, ensuring that the vessels are operated in accordance with Company policy, international standards, and industry guidelines to the customers' satisfaction. Engage with the ships and the commercial operators/ Charterers and Owners, as applicable for the ships. Be the Marine advisor to the Fleet Cell and contribute towards operating the vessels to the highest Safety Standards, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and in accordance with the VMS, ensuring flawless service delivery to customers. Support the Fleet Cell throughout all fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

Managing and planning with the ships and the Marine team, the commercial operations of the fleet, including the allocation of vessels within the Fleet.

Liaise with the vessel owners, the commercial operators, the charterers and sub-charterers for execution of the C/P terms and conditions.

Liaise closely with the Fleet Cell on operational needs with the objective of vessel availability for commercial operations.

Along with the team members oversee vessel activities for hold preparation, loading/ discharging and cargo carriage including necessary documentation and reporting.

Along with the Marine Team and Fleet Cell, monitoring the equipment and requirements for vessel to prepare the cargo tanks/ holds and other necessities for flawless C/P execution.

Reporting of incidents and other items of concern to the Line Manager and/ or top management and assist as required.

Identifying the training needs of the Marine Management team.

For vessels scheduled for dry-docks, liaise with the fleet cell to ensure that the scope of commercial readiness including Charterers complaints are taken into account when planning the dock specifications.

Ensure the maintenance of the highest standards of ship management practices are met fulfilling the expectations of the Clients and commercial stakeholders.

Ensure that client relationships are pro-actively controlled by continually improving the level of service provided in accordance with the management agreement.

Essential

Recognised marine qualification and/ or relevant sea-experience.

Experience as a Superintendent or a commercial role ashore.

Good communication (oral and written) skills.

Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.

Good planning and organisational skills.

Ability to produce creative and effective solutions to problems.

Committed to delivering a quality service, controlling costs, and providing value for money.

Desirable Master Mariner or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency - Coaching and mentoring skills.
